August 11-14

I'll be there on the 11th for most of the evening. Anyone else?

Nice. Is there anything in particular you're going to see? Artists, writers, booths or events?

I don't really have anything in mind. I'm just heading up to look around and poke around town. I don't think they've posted the session list, yet.

Paul Jenkins will be there but haven't heard about anyone else who's impressed me yet.

Leaving for the con shortly, pretty excited although I think C2E2 has a better writer/artist turnout than Wizard World.
I don't need all the pageantry.

just realized that tonight was the start of this show and I damn well forgot. Working all weekend so looks like I'll miss this year. Wonder if there will be a show next year?

I'll put up some pictures this week. Met Asarello, Risso and Johnson as well as Bill Reinhold. Bill and I talked for a long time about the DH Magnus books and working with Shooter. Some key comments were that Shooter is very restrictive towards artists in the creative process. All art had to be in a strict storyboard format. One other interesting comment he had was that artists are given a lot of freedom with deadlines these days in comparison to the past.

Yep. Unfortunately, that's true.

I found CCC to be very disappointing. I didn't attend any of the panels (I would've like to have attended the Doctor Who and Torchwood panels). But the actual show portion felt more like a flea market than the CCC I remember from the '90s. It appears that C2E2 would be more like what I remember. It took a total an hour each day to go through the show. I didn't find much the second time around. :)

I think the highlight for me was seeing Bill Reinhold and seeing that magnificent Magnus collage. I'm not a fan of those types of pieces but it was stunning. Even Kerry, who does not support my art purchases told me that I needed to buy it.

There were a lot of cool people in costumes.
