The 1st pic is of the damaged frame. It turned out the front glass pane is also broken.
I took the matted uncut sheet out and took more pics. The matte was hiding the Upper Deck, Diamond, and Valiant logos. I think it looks better with the logos displayed. I may just leave it unframed for now for easier (and safer) storage.

I just found one of these rolled up in a cardboard tube which was stored in a LCS's bathroom. I just happened to notice it because part of the Shadowman card was sticking out of the tube. The cards are solid, though there is some bending and damage around the edges of the sheet, and of course it's rolled. It also has a slight smoke odor (he smokes in his shop).
I'd never seen one of them before, so I asked how much he'd sell it for and he gave it to me for $5.
I'm going to see if I can flatten it, and maybe do some reasearch if there's any safe/cheap way to de-odorize it.
Any idea how rare these are?

Considering that it was found in the loo you’re lucky it only smells like smoke.Toefur wrote:I just found one of these rolled up in a cardboard tube which was stored in a LCS's bathroom. Thanks, I'll have to try that. I've got it sitting between some pieces of cardboard under a bunch of long boxes right now. Hopefully that will help flatten it out. It's not too rank, as it was in a tube in the bathroom, but you can smell the odor.kevinbastos wrote:Try something that absorbs moisture - like settling it around rice. Yeah like a chimney. Fortunately he keeps most everything wrapped in plastic, and all the back issues are bagged and boarded and tightly packed in boxes. I haven't noticed any odor after removing them from the bags, and replacing them with new ones. It is kind of gross as there's yellow ash/tar on everything. I'm sure he'd have a lot more customers if he stopped smoking in there. I wouldn't buy new issues as those aren't bagged up.iggy101us wrote:He smokes in his comic shop?!?
But he's been a goldmine for me as I'm trying to finish up my Valiant collection, I've gotten quite a few hard to find final issues and even a gold for dirt cheap.

reminds me of my comic store i frequented in jr. high and high school. guy looked like an overweight Wolverine and smoked cigars. It was the quintessential comic shop. cluttered, stacks of boxes and toys everywhere, dingy and musty. Ah, the memories!:) ('Books, Comics, and Records" in Mesa AZ for those wondering. BC&R for short)Toefur wrote:Thanks, I'll have to try that. I've got it sitting between some pieces of cardboard under a bunch of long boxes right now. Hopefully that will help flatten it out.
