The three articles that I read were promising. It is good to see something published from reputable sources about the future of Valiant. Aside from the common catchphrases, this could be the announcement that many have been waiting for.

I am glad to see experience and talent have been hired to usher the line forward. I found the team to be solid and time proven capable.

Now lets see some comics.

I haven't read the link nor this thread yet, but *SQUEE* Yeah!!!

I expected to open up the thread and see that the first post read, "....is just around the corner". Because that's what I've grown accustom to.

Well, still nothing concrete at all aside from capital being raise and control being split. Since there are capital contributors, I think we will start to see some movement now.

I don't know anything about him, but I like what Cuneo says in contrast to Richardson.

The comments that I find most interesting are the ones about retailers being the lifeblood of the industry. Unfortunately, that's very true. I'm very interested to see what their ideas are in relation to retailers. It has to be more than retailer incentives. If retailers weren't so damn lazy and crappy, this industry would be alot better off.

Great news. Athough I wish they had the GK characters, they don't need them. Post unity, the cross over was not as great with them, except for Rai

Having the Cuneo's involved is a huge coup for VEI. Peter basically built the model that brought Marvel back from bankruptcy. I am certainly not expecting anything on that scale, but just having someone with his business background and acumen is a step in the right direction for Dinesh and Jason.

Congrats to Dino and crew!

It's been a long time coming through the VIP fiasco, Shooter fiasco, etc. I'm glad that they've persevered through the challenges, hopefully the payoff is right around the corner.

For all the talk about them being 'amateurs', they seem to be doing things the right way. Let's face it, a hasty comics launch would have led to where Dark Key and Atlas are headed: sub 5,000 sales, bleeding cash, and relegated to bargain bins within a year.

Things might start picking up here again :thumb:

That was a TV series. Twice. This would have to be V3.

Already quoted:
X-O Manowar
Bloodshot
Harbinger

Others:
Archer & Armstrong
Eternal Warrior
Shadowman
Ninjak
Rai
Quantum & Woody
within Harbinger you have multiple characters...would probably put A&A and EW in A list as well as Shadowman
I'd agree, except the source groups Harbinger.

On the list, I might replace Ninjak with HARDCorps or Armorines. None of these were my 'faves,' but I thought the second time around was not too shabby. Certainly could give Ninjak a run for his money - especially considering the second time around. Bleah.

I'd probably leave Dr. Mirage out, at any rate. Great potential that turned into a bad soap opera [Cue Walt Willey cameo].
My personal top ten list would be as follows:
X-O Manowar
Bloodshot
Harbinger
Eternal Warrior
Archer & Armstrong
Shadowman
HARD Corps (because if you have Harbinger, you gotta have the Corps!)
Armorines
Ninjak

Okay, so that's only 9 instead of 10. I would also love to include Rai, but having him as the only 4000 AD character seems kinda strange. Who else could they put out there in the future though to keep him company? Psi-Lords are an option and one series that I actually liked (cue the heckling). Or they put out future versions of some characters that have a possibility of being around in the future like EW and A&A (at least Armstrong, maybe with a new Archer). Or you remake the Eternal Warriors thing and have Gilad as the Fist, Armstrong as the Geomancer, and maybe throw in Ivar sometimes to link the current day series' with the 4000 AD ones! There could even be a future owner of an X-O Manowar suit perhaps?

Next question is how much of the old continuity do they keep as sacred cows? If they do a Shadowman comic, can they do it with Jack Boniface here in present day? Or do they stick to what was quoted long ago about him dying in 1999? Or do they run the series showing stuff that happened leading up to his death in 1999? Maybe a current day Shadowman getting schooled by Nettie and she slowly reveals parts of the story about what happened to Jack back in the past. In some way that it is relevant to what the new Shadowman is facing as well? Kind of like in the TV show Fringe where some episodes are in the main universe and others are in the alternate universe? Kind of getting two characters and two storylines within one comic! At least up until the time that they finish revealing all about and up to Jack's actual death. But by that time, you are very invested in this new character as well and maybe there is a 'passing of the torch' moment where Jack (via Nettie's magic) appears in ghost form or something.

Oooooooh! Or maybe the angry/strong 'Shadowman' force that takes over the normal person that is the current Shadoman is actually the personality of the previous Shadowman (or all previous Shadowmen together)! So that when the new Shadowman goes nutso, it is Jack Boniface's personality and experience driving the newb nuts like Jack used to be by his predecessor! At least until the newb comes into his own and takes the power on for himself after 'graduation' or some such. (just shoot me a PM VEI, I'll be happy to sign over this idea to you for use!)

But I'd like to see things like Jack's foretold death in 1999 be held as truth still. Where does that leave them though in trying to start new series? How much of the old can they hold onto? I'd almost hate to see a total reboot with either new/different origins or retelling the same origins. I wish they could pick up from some point where they left off and continue from there. But I'd also love to see it linked time-wise to current day. :!: :?

So, yeah, anyway, really excited to hear this finally. Only been waiting what, 4 years since VEI got the rights for this day to come. I wish them luck and success because then the wait will have been worth it.

My Top 10 List:

Bloodshot
X-O Manowar
Archer & Armstrong
Harbinger
Eternal Warrior
Shadowman
Quantum & Woody
Timewalker
RAI
Dr. Mirage
Ninjak

Make it 11, lol.

I'd also like some sort of Secret Weapons type of run or at least mini-series' with the whole universe, especially to start the line up, that'd be sweet. I like the Geomancer telling the history type of idea for an opener book reintroducing the entire Universe maybe somehow explaining the change and timelapse.

leonmallett wrote:Still, you have to ask why has it taken them so long? It will be more than 2 years from the Shooter situation blew up come 2012, and if they had wanted to and/or ensured the neccessary means to do so they could have published by now.
From reading the articles and the emphasis seemingly put on how they have plenty of capital now, I'm going to assume that money was holding them back. Maybe when they had Shooter they were willing to take a leap of faith and after losing him they wanted to be a bit more careful?

Either way, I was absolutely thrilled to read the news and I can't wait to see this launch! :thumb:

It doesn't take a genius to work out that you arent the only one feeling that way here, but in the long run im pretty confident they will be putting out some great books with shweet creative teams.
Don't let what came before spoil what is about to happen.
