Dude...re: Q&W...listen...Chris Priest (the writer formerly known as James Owsley...why'd he change it? No clue) is a GOOD writer, or, at the very least, a CLEVER writer.
His work's ALWAYS been underrated, but he's turned out some KILLER Spidey work (late 80's) and his run on Dethlok wasn't BAD.
Of course...his Black Panther run was GOOD, and, of course, Q&W is often a laugh riot..
I mean, come on....GOAT month! Who doesn't think that's funny?

Everyones saying Preunity, So no need for me to repeat it.
But I will mention the very Valiant comics that got me into Valiant comics in the first place. I discovered them in the 25cent bin, and I read it many years ago, and loved it so much I became a valianter for life. They were X-O Manowar 16-24 (the arc in which Aric stops being X-O and leaves the armour to his female companion.
Many of you might disagree, but I have fond memories of them. Once I complete my run of X-O I will reread the whole series chronologically and see how they fair now.

last 2-3 issues of EW. (I happen to think that was the best story of the series.)
Chaos effect ep. (best stories in chaos effect)
A & A 3,4,5 (Hey Gandi, you're supposed to be one with the universe and the wife thinks you're two bricks short. Did you wee your poor self?)
Magnus #3
Harbinger #23
Bloodshot Last Stand

Pre-Unity was great, a couple of low points in Rai and X-O but that's just my opinion.
Unity, a must read for all.
Post unity, Everything BWS did, Harbinger until Lapham left, Shadowman until the end (Bob Hall made this the most consistant book Valiant had), any Turok Rags touched. Lots of good stuff on E.W. and Bloodshot near the end.
Punx, forget all you consider Valiant to be and enjoy this unfinished mini series (any chance that Taddeo could give us a finished fourth issue?)
VH2- I know that nobody want's to agree but lots of good stuff here. Q&W, Troublemakers, Magnus and Shadowman stand out for me as well as all the quarterly one shots (MOTA, revelations, Operation stormbreaker)
If you enjoy Valiant you should explore all the bits that might make up the future of this universe.

From Rai 15: Said by an Aryantine in SouthAm. "You won this ring, Robot Fighter, and then cast it away! Fortunately for my people , it eventually fell into the hands of someone wo knew what it represented . This battlesuit is the basis for all our success!"shadowmite wrote:I read this today and was very impressed. What happened to the ring at the end?

I suggested Shadowman and Shooter era stuff already in this thread but here's a few others:
BWS's stuff:
A & A til 12
EW 6-8
Plus:
Magnus 20 (a fill in issue by Shooter and Colon)
EW Yearbook 1
Bloodshot 1-17 (by Vanhook and Perlin)
Those are probably the post-Shooter issues.

I'll repeat what others have said... Pre-Unity and Unity for starters. Then, get the entire run of Shadowman (pretend V2 doesn't exist), throw out the fill-in issues Mike Baron wrote because they're *SQUEE*, keep in mind the first 7 issues are necessary for the back-story, then from #8 all the way to the end, enjoy one of the best runs of any comic series ever.
As for my favorite Pre-Unity stories, as others have said Magnus 1-8, Solar 1-10, & X-O 1-8 or 9 or so. Really good stuff there.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
Got to echo about Q&W - definitely held up well for the entire run.
Something else with Acclaim - I enjoyed Turok (at least the 1997 stuff). Child of Blood and later left me underwhelmed, but Empty Souls, Spring Break, Turok/Timewalker, and Redpath were really good.
Also glad to hear about Busiek's Ninjak. I picked up the first couple of issues last week, and didn't think they were bad. I'm looking forward to the rest of it now.
