Unity 2000 artwork?
I posed this question just now in Dead Universe Bravura since it related to Jim Starlin talking a little about shopping around 'Breed 3.
Does anyone have scans of the artwork from issues 4-6 of Unity 2000? Some of the pages have come up on eBay.

All of the pages from issues 4 thru 6 I own and were restored by myself and set up for JayJay Jackson who is coloring them at present. The series will be finished as a Valiant Collectors Society (not for profit) project. I will be lettering the final 3 chapters and Paul Creddick will be helping JayJay dialogue the final chapter. You can sign up for the project and vote on the format here:

I also have scans of all of the original covers as well.

Is this the same project that Fanboy375 was working on a few years back.superggraphics wrote:All of the pages from issues 4 thru 6 I own and were restored by myself and set up for JayJay Jackson who is coloring them at present. I sent Jonathan a copy of a page that he needed, so I'll have to remember to sign up.superggraphics wrote:Yes it is. Jonathan is the person that asked me to come on board to do the lettering and prepress work.Is this the same project that Fanboy375 was working on a few years back.

Would not say so. Big overlapping, but with different premises. Over there is about collecting and here is about the community. Of course both aspects exist in both sites. Still I would not say they take away from eachother.slym2none wrote:The "point" of that other website was to never be a competitor to this one, but it sure turned out that way, eh?wokuya wrote:Just signed up on the other board to show my support for this project.
And "too many fanboys..." ?
Isn't that the point?

I don't recall seeing the other site mentioned in a FCBD book.magnusr wrote:Would not say so. Big overlapping, but with different premises. Ouch. True. And that was about collecting (great issue really, every single article showing an important aspect of collecting and all together a very good primer). At least where I was quoted I did stress the community feeling.Chiclo wrote:I don't recall seeing the other site mentioned in a FCBD book.

Right, now i see where you got the Fanboy thing from in the other thread dude.
As it was me that said 'too many fanboys' i guess i should correct that.
Not sure the term fanboy is correct for what i was suggesting.
Without siding on any argument, i would say the sometimes strength and delivery of opinion on here could scare away potential creators and most probably has.

I was invited to join the VCS board when I was brought in by Ryan and Jonathan to help salvage the Unity 2000 project. Being a NOOB, and that being my first experience with a message board, I made a lot of missteps and got drawn into a lot of flame wars (most I found out later started by Defiant1, who I used to consider a friend, and a few others) both at that board, this one, and the Dark-Key forum. My bad and I hopefully have apologized to everyone I've ever offended, and I am now focused on helping to bring the unpulished Unity 2000 project to completion. Ryan is paying JayJay to color this out of pocket (along with all of the other expenses related to the project) and I've offered all of my artwork, prepress, restoration, and lettering services for free in order to help see this thru. Is it a great series? Maybe not, but I felt it deserved to be finished. Oh, and wait till you see Magnusr's contributions to this. It never would have happened from my end quite the way it's going to without his help. And thanks to everyone else who contributed in any way, shape, or form. Give yourself a God sized pat on the back. You deserve it.

Great that you got involved and are making sure it is completed even if the overall story isn't the best.
In my post above i was originally intending to suggest that creators posting on VCS was probably to do with contacting them for specific purposes, thus creating more of an incentive to stick around and interact. That's not to say there hasn't been a bunch of reasons to do that here, just that when done by one person or a small group, without any BS that smaller unit are likelier to get a better result. Just a shame that BS exists all over anyway afterall.
