That Robotron game was insane! You had to be seriously hopped up on Mello Yello to make it past the first few levels. I wasted many quarters on that original arcade version.COMICKINGS wrote:When I first opened my store in 1993,I had a video game called Robotron 2004 in the store, and I stripped all of the graphics off and had a sign shop make some large decals for the sides, using the image off of Magnus #0,And used the Magnus logo for the front of the machine to make it look like it was a Magnus machine. It's a pretty kick *SKREE* game with a guy cruising around the screen blastin robots trying to save people walking around before they got taken out by the robots.I sent some pics of it to Valiant hoping to get it printed in a comic, but no such luck.I did get a couple gold copies of Magns #21 though.I ended up selling the machine to a customer of mine.I got a polaroid picture of it somewhere, one day when I find it I'll post it. ...Seriously....back in the day, I used to buy 2 copies of everything, until they got rid of the secondary titles, & started publishing the core titles twice a month. I more or less quit in Spring 1996. Tried a few V2's, but didn't really like what they were doing.
Unless the new owners produce pure crap, I'll do my best to support their endevor. And I don't mind coupon gimmicks or enhanced covers, but they have to be good, & there has to be a sane limit. No 13 different covers for The GOAT #1.
The only thing that really bothers me about any relaunch is NO Magnus, No V1 Solar, & NO Turok. Why is it OK to have a V2 Solar, but not a V2 Mag or Turok? They were totally different characters from V1 (like V2 Solar), so what's up?
I think there's going to be alot of legal wrangling before anything gets done. Like the reversion of rights for Q&W to Priest, etc.---Steve

I sold it when I closed my first location back in 1996 and have since picked up another Robotron, and am gonna do this one up also, but try and go all out on it this time!It wont be anytime soon, the machine is on the blink, and it's a pain trying to get any of these guys that know how to work on 'em to come over and fix it! But as soon as I get it all done I'll post some pics! Joey

That is one bad *SQUEE* video game.
I also worked in a comic shop back in the day and sold the hell out of Valiant. Shadowman sold as many copies as X-Men in my store. I also bought and read every book put out by Valiant/Acclaim. Everything even Turok Evolution. The only book I did not buy was NIO and now I need to get issues 2-4. And with a couple of exceptions I can honestly say I enjoyed it all.
Yes I did like VH2, got a problem with that.
Anyways I will be buying Valiant again and I can not wait, this might be the only thing that could get me into the comic shop every week. I can't wait.

I think I can find NIO very cheap here...
I'm pretty sure the local store has one copy of each issue.
I had been debating whether or not to get them since I don't know if NIO counts as part of VH 2.
If you can find me a Deadside #1 (or 3, I'm not sure which one I'm missing, either 1 or 3), I could probably get you those NIO

If you want them just for the sake of being complete, I would get them. Don't buy it for the reading, the whole premise was lame and the story was not told very well. Another one of Acclaims wrong turns.ManofTheAtom wrote:I think I can find NIO very cheap here...

The old Robotrons don't have any problem with screen brightness do they? I recently found Robotron on a Thundercade arcade machine (which has a ton of different old games on it) but when I played it, the images were too dim for me to make them out (it was kind of funny, I felt like a blind man at a shooting gallery). I was really disappointed. Can't imagine I would've played it as a kid if it was that hard to see.

I played that game all the time as a kid. There were never any problems withhe screen brightness on it.

Man,it sucks because I don't know what the problem is.I was gonna give the guy $500 for it,but when I went to his house to get it,it didn't work.So he said, just take it,get it fixed, and we'll get straight later. When I got it home it started working! I guess the bumps from the trip shook it up and everything was fine. Then about 2 days later, after playing it for about 5 minutes, the game would just reset.Everything worked great, but it just would reset every couple minutes. So it's now sat for over a year and the last time I tried to start it...nothing.I have had 4 different people that work on these me machines tell me they'd be by,but here am still. It is a fun as hell game,as it just keeps getting harder and harder to survive as it goes on....And, I still haven't paid the guy any cash. He's come into the shop with his son alot and I just give them whatever they want for free. It's up to about $200 or so now.People say they aren't hard to fix,but when I open up the back all I see is a bunch of *SQUEE* that'll eloctrocute me!

Joey, I remember coming by your place a few times and checking some comics out and then playing that Robotron game. That game was like the best arcade game of all time! I remember playing it until I had blisters and still wanted to play. There is no way to play that game without getting hyped up! Excellent memories of that game!!!COMICKINGS wrote:Man,it sucks because I don't know what the problem is.I was gonna give the guy $500 for it,but when I went to his house to get it,it didn't work.So he said, just take it,get it fixed, and we'll get straight later. When I got it home it started working! So NIO is part of the VH 2 Universe? Hmm, guess I'll get them then.Daniel Jackson wrote:If you want them just for the sake of being complete, I would get them. Don't buy it for the reading, the whole premise was lame and the story was not told very well. Another one of Acclaims wrong turns.
