Squadron Supreme 1st print TPB with Mark Gruenwald's ashes fixed in ink sold for $612. I'm pretty sure that's a record. There was some article from Bleeding Cool and a TV special about it.

Good news, I looked and I do have a copy of the Messiah Complex HC. Bad news, a copy sold on eBay for only $20.

I have been watching this Gruenwald SS TPB and it didn't sell the first time. The seller has lowered the price for this 'less than minty fresh' volume.

Does it have to have the sticker? If not look at this one.

There may have been some that did not have the sticker but the key identifier for the expensive TPB is
the "A tribute to the imagination of Mark Gruenwald" sticker on the front cover of the book. What makes this unique (and the subject, 14 years later, of media attention) is Gruenwald's ashes were mixed into the ink for the book.
While I am not a morbid person, it would be nice to have a part of Mark in the house. I never really appreciated his legacy until after he was gone and I read all that he accomplished. After reading up on Mark, I was tremendously sad at his passing. Hard to believe that it has been so long ago now.

Fixed It! :thumb:

And as for the Ashes Edition - it was the 1st print edition that had the ashes added - so if you get a 1st print you have the ashes in the ink - also to verify his wife wrote the foreword to the TPB about his last wish and him being in the very fiber of the book.

The HC collections seem to build steam much better than their tpb counterparts . . . I find this happens more often with the Omnibuses . . so far anyway . . .

Although there's no completed auctions for just this book, it seems like some eBay sellers are putting buy it nows for Mad Archives vol 2 for more than $200. Same thing is happening with Amazon's used booksellers, too.

I think it's way too high for it, though.

Interesting find, Spider.
