Wizard + CGC 9.5's huh?
We've had a pretty good discussion about this in another thread. Some think it is a April Fools prank, others think it's real. I personally think this issue is real. CGC will be grading books directly from the printers to be sold on Wizardworld.com but the books will only have two grades(?) 10.0
and 9.5. The article was written by Ryan Penagos who I believe stopped in the forum for a visit a few weeks ago-and hence we have seen some Valiant action in Wizard. What do you guys think?

I don't like the idea at all... BUT...
If it is real, it will only apply to brand new books.
There won't be a "Wizard grade" on anything that isn't taken
straight from the printers... so it won't affect back issues at all.
(Golden, Silver, Bronze, Valiant... unaffected.)
Honestly, I already see a big difference between a CGC 9.8
on a book like Solar #1 vs. a CGC 9.8 on something
that was printed yesterday (literally).

The difference being what? Stricter grading on the Solar then a new book or vice versa?greg wrote: Honestly, I already see a big difference between a CGC 9.8

I think the 9.5 or 10.0 grading system is a joke. Will we see an increase of 10.0s than before, will 9.8s become even more valuable, will 9.4 values go down the tubes? I can only see CGC *SQUEE* off alot of current owners of these books (9.4, 9.6, 9.8) if they really intend on redoing the grading conventions of NM books.

No the difference is... it matters if a Solar #1 is CGC 9.8.lobo wrote:The difference being what? Stricter grading on the Solar then a new book or vice versa?greg wrote: Honestly, I already see a big difference between a CGC 9.8

If the book was just printed last week,
it doesn't matter what grade it is.
99.99999% of all new books will not be important in a year.
Why try to figure out which ones are "perfect copies" of nothing?
Which books are you talking about?lobo wrote:I think the 9.5 or 10.0 grading system is a joke. There won't be any "Wizard 10.0" or "Wizard 9.5" for back issues...
Basically it would separate true back issues from brand new books.
That's probably fine anyway because those are two different markets.

How about somewhat new key issues like Origin or Ultimate Spiderman 1 if they did this, and only had 9.5 + 10.0? What happens to 9.8's and 9.6's that get sent from the printers, do they become 9.5's automatically because they are not a 10.0. What happens to the books that don't grade 9.5, do they show up in a LCS next week or for reorder from Diamond or whoever? Do they shred them? Who cares I guess?
