Wizard announces New Orleans Comic Con
I'm not a big fan of Wizard but I think a NOLA Wizard Comic Con will be both fun and a boost to the hobby in the region...
Wizard Entertainment has announced that its 2011 comic convention tour will kick off in New Orleans.
Scheduled to take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Centre in January, the move sees the city host the event for the first time.
"We followed the Super Bowl champions all the way to New Orleans this year," said Wizard CEO Gareb Shamus.
"We are thrilled to come to the home of Mardi Gras, the Saints and world-famous Bourbon Street. New Orleans is the perfect place to create the type of pop culture event called Wizard World. We look forward to seeing all our fans there."
Wizard World conventions have previously taken place in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Austin, Dallas and Atlanta. The event is a celebration of comics, video games, movies and more.
The New Orleans Comic Con will take place between January 29 and January 30.

$40 for Billy Dee Williams autograph???
http://www.wizardworld.com/photoops-neworleans.html
$125 for a photo with Adam West and Burt Ward???
Was my experiences at Dragon*Con back in the 90's unusual? I never had to pay for an individual autograph, and definitely not a photo. Celebrities would have their own glossy photos available for sale and they would sign them, but otherwise they didn't charge for just autographs. And they were glad to take a picture with you while they signed your item or if you caught them in the isles. Has that changed, or was that an anomaly?

I was wondering the same thing…
I saw Adam West at the ’04 Crescent City con and the autograph was only $20. In the ‘80s I saw Adam West and Burt Ward at a New Orleans World on Wheels and only paid for the photo.
I’m a little put of by the high prices for autographs too. However, most of the money I’ve budgeted for the con is for signings. With the internet and eBay I doubt I’ll see anything so HTF that I have to buy it at the con.
So far the folks I’m most interested in seeing are:
Ethan Van Sciver to sign and perhaps sketch in GL Rebirth HC
Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, and Daniel Logan to sign Star Wars Year by Year HC
Roland Mann, Mitch Byrd, and Steven Butler to sign Cat & Mouse #1
Arthur Suydam to sign Marvel Zombies HC
Rob Liefeld to sign New Mutants #87
Walter Koenig to sign TOS 8X10
Adam West and Burt Ward to sign only if I can purchase a large Batman and Robin photo

I was mostly interested in Billy Dee Williams and Ray Park to sign my Star Wars poster that has already been signed by David Prowse, Anthony Daniels, and Jeremy Bulloch - all autographs I got for free at Dragon*Con.
Claudia Christian would be great too, but I don't know what I'd have her sign as I'm getting rid of all my B5 stuff.
I have Walter Koenig's signature. He and Mark Lenard performed a two-man play at my college. Mark, who was a close friend to the drama director, stayed and chatted after the performance and even stayed and did a workshop the following day so I got to actually chat with him and get his signature on the program for the plan and a Star Trek trading card. Walter split immediately after the performance, so I didn't get to meet him, but a good friend of mine was a theater major and managed to get his autograph on the program for me.

Joking.
Do you have a B5 dvd set? She's got to be on the cover of one of them. (I am too lazy to go look right now) Maybe have her sign that?

Looking for something special for my retro Batman collection, I bought a 20X16 photo just like the one pictured from moviemarket.com.
I have a gold paint pen that I’d prefer they sign with. Anyone know how willing West and Ward will be in accommodating my request?
Any tips for when I see West and Ward? The last time I saw Adam West he wanted to charge extra for his signature on the ’66 LIFE magazine. Hopefully the regular ticket price of $30 each will be sufficient...
Anyway, I expect this to come out nice!
