Re: PGX Valiant.com forum member special!
I hate sales pitches that are disguised as 'something else'. It just SMACKS of dishonesty.tonysamos1 wrote:I was planning to send in some Valiant books to be graded next month and asked if PGX they had any specials. Here is the special.
Valiant.com forum member special!
Send in your treasured Valiant's to PGX for grading and received 20% discount off the 1st 15 books.
This special is only good on Valiant books and is being extended exclusively to Valiant.com forum members.
Offer is good through May 31, 2005
Please note Valiant special on the submission form.
Daniel Patterson (PGX)
If you have any questions about this offer feel free to call us or contact through pgxcomics.com
How does that sound?
Hope this saves some of you some money,
Sami
You know what? Had this just been a 'hey, PGX wanted to let valiant fans know that you get a discount if you mention this ad', it would have been just fine.
Instead, some "new" shill account came in, pretending to be someone not connected with PGX, to let us know of this 'special deal'. Please. And some of you wonder why CGG/PGA/PGX has such a hard time in the market?
One word: SHADINESS.
On top of that...they can't even be bothered to get the name of the website correct. It's not "valiant.com".
Ever get those calls where someone butchers your name, and then tries to sell you something, in the guise of trying to chat about the weather or some such?
Yeah, that's what this is.
And there's no apostrophe in 'Valiants'. It's not possessive, and it's CERTAINLY not a contraction. Hell, she's not even pregnant!
DUH.

Sorry you guys didn't like the special. We will go ahead and rescind the offer if no one is interested and put together a more professional one for the future.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I hate sales pitches that are disguised as 'something else'. DawgPhan wrote:Well I think that there are questions about both of their holders...The inner well of the PGX holder might be made of less than archival plastic(well no plastics are actually archival...mylar is not a plastic) but the CGC holder is subject to shaken comic syndrome where the comic in slab becomes damaged after being slabbed. The damage is explicitly caused by the slab itself. Neither seem to be 100% safe for your comics...X-O HoboJoe wrote:Hey, it's starting to look like another Bob Layton prank.![]()
I would like to see the honcho make this offer in person, 2postbob could be BSing us, no one seems to know this person. If it's real, it is a nice gesture, if not a well presented one. I guess since I'm not selling any HG big items soon, I really don't have a dog in the fight, but I would like to see more about the archival nature of the CGC and PGX holders.
We use the same material that CGC uses for our inner holder (Barex), we just use it in a way that protects the books much better.

With the PGX holder there is NO concern with staple pulls. It would take intentional, extreme abuse to produce this effect.DawgPhan wrote:So the other 500,000 comics that are in the old holder are still in danger?
Stuff like the Super HG SA books...9.6 FF 1's and AF 15's..
Also I think that staple pulls are the new concern with these books..if they happen to move since the cover is being pinched..

Not perfect, but better...

Please do. The way these situations are handled is NOT good for your company and legitimate competition for CGC is NEEDED.Thecomicguys wrote: Sorry you guys didn't like the special. Thanks guys,
My books have alraedy been sent out and now their is no offer. Just because I don't post a zillion times does not make me a stranger to valiant.com. If anybody bothered to look into this matter they could have asked Greg about me, who I e-mailed the night before about this offer. Also, the upper left of my original post shows I have been a member for almost a year now. I've never seen such behavior towards a generous and legitimate offer. I know when I purchase items online, I always do a search for a coupons on other sites... is that company being unprofessional for not listing the coupon code on thier site? For someone like me, disabled and on a fixed income, it's a great opportunity to get some high end Valiant books slabbed at a a very afforable price. I'm quite sure I'm not the only one this offer would help. To those of you who do not want to take advantage of this offer, simply don't, don't post negative opinions.
