I found an online comic store with super high discounts
I just found an online comic store that sells all the Independents Comics like Boom, Darkhorse, Dynamic, Image, and so on at about 35% off (some they sell for less, some for more). Some books, like 1st issues, are offered at 75% off.
It's a great deal, I just ordered my december comics. I got $44 worth of stuff for just $28 dollars, and that's including the shipping cost. I ended up getting 36% of the cover price all in all. One of the books I bought came at 50% off and signed by the writer. How did they pull that off? I don't know.
The stores called th Discount Comic Book Service. I just wanted to tell people about it because it is such a good deal. Comic prices are high and a large discount helps. I hope this info helps some people.

Thanks.
That's www.dcbservice.com and is talked about quite a bit here. Many of us use it and are fond of it as well.
BTW, you could probably have gotten by with one post, instead of three, with this information.

You need to keep going back. I am no expert, but I think there is a way to to get it into a "pull list" that you can activate each month. I've never done this so maybe someone else has some insights...Knightt wrote:Once I order a title, will I then have a subscription to that title or do I need to keep going back month after month ?

Yes. After you complete an order, you can create a pull list and add any book that you've ordered to your pull list. The following month, you can automatically generate the order. It will pull in everything and then you eliminate what you don't want (variants or whatever).tssgery wrote:You need to keep going back. I like the pull list because it's tougher to forget about a book using it.

While they handle it a tad differently, both Mail Order Comics and DCBS both have pull lists. With DCBS, it works as 400yrs explained. Order a book, then you can add it to your pull list. With MOC, there is a checkbox by every book on the order form to add it to your pull list. So you can add it to your pull list as you first order, instead of only after (although you can go back any time and add a book to your pull list). I like the MOC method better, but the DCBS web site is just way awesomer.
I don't know if DCBS has this option, but at MOC you can also opt in for "auto order." Your pull list is automatically put in your cart each month. But, you still have to manually go through the checkout process. "Auto Order" (if you choose to opt in for it) automates the checkout process. You can add books to your pull list, then never load the site again and they will be ordered and shipped to you each month.

Is there a spot on here to advertise great mail order companies like these so everyone can be in the loop about what is available?
If there is one spot it would be much easier for everyone to find the info. I only just learned of DCBS and was thinking were has this been. I could have saved a lot of money on my comic orders.

Yes, you are posting in it right now... we do not have places on the board to keep info in one spot about this but word gets around via your initial post and then there is the search function to scour the board for the info or if anyone is needing the info they just post the question. A thread like this usually suffices for the moment and if it fades, someone will surely ask the question again and we may rehash the info OR by the next request for info there may be something better. This thread has been good for me as I am about to confirm my order and go with DCBS but I am also looking at 'Things From Another World' TFAW.com. All I need to do is do a bit of comparison.captain1stern wrote:Is there a spot on here to advertise great mail order companies like these so everyone can be in the loop about what is available?

Hey, I looked at DCBS, MOC, and TFAW and DCBS looks to have the highest dicsounts. But DCBS doesn't carry a lot of Marvel and DC. So if you like those companies you proably want to go with one of the other services. But if you don't buy Marvel and DC like me than it's no issue.Knightt wrote:Which site has a better discount on books ? DCBS looks like a decent discount and the shipping is a straight up $7.00 (well $6.95).

Only mainstream books I read are Batman, Captain America and Punisher and to be quite honest, all three books are circling the drain right now and I can do without them.Tim wrote:DCBS carries everything both companies publish.captain1stern wrote:But DCBS doesn't carry a lot of Marvel and DC.
I am buying more Dark Horse (and in the future Atlas) more than anything:
Solar
Magnus
Turok
Conan but I think I will stick to the TPBs seeing as how I am missing so many already.

I'd say they are about equal on most average books. I think DCBS is generally better on TPBs. They each have special pricing on a few select books each month. If you did the same order with each of them, it would probably go back and forth each month as to who was less.Knightt wrote:Which site has a better discount on books ? DCBS having one flat rate shipping is nice for big orders. MOC has more shipping options. As small as my order is, I can get media mail shipping from MOC for like $4 (well, $4.47).
There's a dropdown selection at the top for selecting a sub-group. DC Universe, Superman, Batman, x-Men, Spider-Man, etc.captain1stern wrote:Oh, well thanks. When I clicked on DC and Marvel only a few select books came up. I must have done something wrong. Thanks for the info.Tim wrote:DCBS carries everything both companies publish.captain1stern wrote:But DCBS doesn't carry a lot of Marvel and DC.

From what I have about MOC and experienced with DCBS... you can't go wrong with either. pricewise, they are very competitive. Some months one might be lower, other months the other. In the end it's a wash.Knightt wrote:Yes, you are posting in it right now... we do not have places on the board to keep info in one spot about this but word gets around via your initial post and then there is the search function to scour the board for the info or if anyone is needing the info they just post the question. One thing that I really like about DCBS is that I can download their excel spreadsheet and fill it out at my leisure. I don't need to fill my cart online, just take my laptop and fill out the xls, upload it at the end of the month and go. Beautious. On top of that, I frequently forget my order till after the due date; I just email the spreadsheet to them and they add it to my account without a thought. I've never once been told that a book I was ordering was unavailable because I was late.
I'm sure that MOC customers have great stories as well. I just haven't had even one excuse to switch from DCBS.

I am being thick here I know, but I a looking to mark down:
Solar
Magnus
Turok
Samson
Batman
And have those books come to me every month, not missing an issue and also have the option to order any additional book that I may want to try. That is possible with either ?
I checked out TFAW and their prices are too high for me, give me a book for a buck something and I am cool, don't give me no 10% crap and blow sunshine up my *SQUEE* at what a great deal I am getting.
Having a cheaper mailing option would be nice though, Media Mail isn't all that bad and I am now able to control my 'wear are my freakin' books' reaction of years past. Patience this one has.

With both companies, you have to go to the website and place the order. Both of them have means to put items in your cart automatically, but neither will automatically charge you and send you books monthly.Knightt wrote:I am being thick here I know, but I a looking to mark down:

Those books (with shipping included) will set you back $15 even with Mailordercomics.com. Compare that to $16.99 cover price. Not a huge discount, but you're guaranteed to get the books and haven't got to set foot in a store to get them.Knightt wrote:I am being thick here I know, but I a looking to mark down:

For media mail, I guess you'll have to go with MOC. DCBS only uses UPS.tssgery wrote:With both companies, you have to go to the website and place the order. With DCBS, you'd have to order those books once. After you order and pay, you can create a pull list for all or a few of the books you ordered (you mark the checkbox for what you want pulled).
Next month, you "create an order" using your pull list and it will automatically pull in all those books. If there are 2 different issues of the Batman book that you ordered coming out that month, it will pull both.
The only problem I get is that it pulls in too much. My order after I "create" it starts around $150-200. I *SQUEE* bricks and then get rid of all the variants and stuff it may pull in and get it around to $50-75. I like seeing all of what may interest me though.
One thing that I love about DCBS is that they put all of their specials in one place that is easy to search through. So you can easily check out all the deals.

WRONG!
Read my post above. MOC has an "auto order" option. Create a pull list, opt in for auto-order, set options like what kind of bags and boards you want, shipping options, etc, and you're done. They will automatically charge you and send your books monthly.
