I'm surprised that VH2 Solar is listed and VH2 Turok isn't. I would have thought that Joshua Fireseed was just as far removed from the Gold Key Turok as the Solars.
That said, could the three guys who pooled together and were the second bidder possibly be tied in to VIP LLC?

It says "pending application" for Captain Johner. And yes, it is a pure Gold Key property, strange if Acclaim applied for it.davidb wrote:Something else I just noticed - says that Mr. Taddeo also got Capt. Johner and the Aliens. Wasn't that another Gold Key property? This is starting to give me a headache - figuring out what's what.

Well if there is any legal contest on a few of the properties that wouldn't tie up all of them. I hope Newsarama's lawyer is better than that lawyer on CNN that said soldiers might be okay if they fled to Canada instead of serving in Iraq
. I'm still waiting to hear from Taddeo or this elusive VIP group.
Wasn't VH-2 Solar called "Man of the Atom" and not "Solar"? VH-2 Solar and Cpt. Johner being in there sounds like a mix up or the inclusion of some dead trademarks in there.
There are no live trademarks I could find on Solar or Magnus. Of course, trademarks just protect the name, logo, and sometimes the symbol of a character (usually applied for if you're going to license something out as mass market merchandise). The actual characters, concepts, and story is covered under copyright.

I wouldn't hold my breath. In cases like this it usually takes at least a year, more often quite a bit longer before the first book is producedChuck wrote:Boy, I wonder how much longer before any Valiant character is gonna be published again![]()
It's like the quite before the storm.
The waiting.

Still sounds like a mix up but I guess it's possible the company that owned the Gold Key properties gave a couple they didn't like to Acclaim.
For those of you familar with VH-2 Solar, is the concept different enough to be considered a completely seperate and unmistakable character from the the original?
I know he was revealed to be Phil Seleski (which I would think would kill the deal right there) and that he gave his powers to some bother and sister with his last name.

Yeah, it takes about 5 or 6 monthes just to get the first issue solicited by Diamond. But that before you've got to get the creators, plan out what you're doing, and make the comic.Redtrax wrote:I wouldn't hold my breath.
