Cool, but question is, will they short the orders like they did with the Magnus variant?StarBrand wrote:Wow! No extra charge for the signed version!iggy101us wrote:Got the below email from DCBS. It's available for $1.75. Must edit order before end of month.

I doubt it. It's a completely different situation.Daniel Jackson wrote: Cool, but question is, will they short the orders like they did with the Magnus variant?
This is the regular cover so they can place an order for as many copies as they need (plus a few more as backups) and then have Jim sign them.
I still don't get how you all are blaming them on the Magnus variant. I don't know what the split was, but I'd guess it was around 5:1 or 7:1. If you didn't order 5 or 7 copies of the regular, you shouldn't expect any copies of the variant.
They can't pull variants out of their butthole. They have to buy a certain number of the regular copies to get a variant (which is why they are incentives). If you order 2 copies of the variant and 2 copies of the regular expecting them to eat and store 10-12 of the regular covers...... well, that ain't going to happen.
I still think this is mostly Dark Horse's fault. I don't think they ever declared what the variant split was. DCBS priced these pretty cheap. If they knew the split, I'd bet they probably would've priced the variants higher.

Just one. None of the DH books have been good enough to justify hoarding.HaloReach2010 wrote:Anyone going to pick a few of these up?Daniel Jackson wrote:Cool, but question is, will they short the orders like they did with the Magnus variant?StarBrand wrote:Wow! I hear what you're saying, but as I said before on this subject, all DCBS had to do was state up front on the listing how many copies you needed to buy. If DH won't disclose the number to them, then put a disclaimer saying you can't guarantee the availability of the variant, simple as that.
They didn't even bother to send me an email saying I wasn't going to get it with my order (or apologize for the inconvenience). I had to scramble around later on trying to find a copy for a decent price after that.

True, but that would be alot of books they would have to do that for. They'd probably have to mark all of the variants in some way and write a program to put up a warning for each kind of book or a different message for eacch kind of offering. That's probably doable, but probably not all that practical.Daniel Jackson wrote:

To be fair, the same thing would probably happen wherever you bought the book because they'd all be faced with the same dilemma.
I always order my variants from them. If I get them, I'm greatful because they are usually cheapest there. If not, then I do scramble, but I don't mind because I didn't buy a buttload of copies of the regular to get the variant (which is what the publisher wants/expects). I don't mind the hunt.
With these books, I'm pretty confident they will all end up in dollar bins in the near future anyway.

Based on what I've read from the guy at DH, his last stint on LEGION and what I've seen of the rarely availble because it was never officially released "7"...the guy just isn't what he used to be. Broadway was his last golden moment, imo and he even had rough spots there and with Defiant.dave wrote:![]()

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I think that whatever it is that Shooter is doing these days simply doesn't appeal to me. It also doesn't help that I can't stop comparing the quality of writing in the DH GK books to that of Kirkman in Walking Dead, Willingham in Fables and Layman in Chew. For that matter, even Johns is doing better work (and, given the superhero angle, a closer comparison) with Green Lantern.dave wrote:Oh. I'm likin the DH stuff.
The Legion stuff that I read was "okay".
Didn't read 7.

That's understandable. I don't really enjoy most modern mainstream comics myself. I sold off my Walking Dead trades ages ago and haven't ever missed it. Not saying it's bad or anything, just that it doesn't appeal to me. I prefer 'old-school' type comics, which is probably why Shooter's writing appeals to me. Having said that, he's never going to top Valiant. Shooter's writing was the guts of Valiant, but BWS, Layton, Perlin, Lapham, etc etc were all huge in making Valiant what it was. Dark Horse is a much different beast, and I think it's going to be a fun ride for people that enjoy his writing. But not everything appeals to everybody.xodacia81 wrote: Sorry for the misunderstanding. I think that whatever it is that Shooter is doing these days simply doesn't appeal to me. I agree, DH has been better than Legion so far. I was never a fan of Legion before his run though. The art in Legion was better, that Manapul guy is amazingdave wrote:Oh. I was trying to make it relate to him signing the Mighty Samson books.

You should check out his work on the new Flash series. Excellent work with a great sense of style and storytelling.Ryan wrote:I agree, DH has been better than Legion so far. It's on the creators. If they had them, they'd send them. I had to wait about 4 months for AJ Lieberman to send them the signed copy of the scripts to CNV #2.
Just keep checking your packing list that comes with the shipment. If it's on that list, but not in your shipment, shoot them an email and they will fix it.
They've been nothing but great for me.

Somehow I ended up ordering 2 variants and 4 signed copies without realizing it.
