One of the things Sim had Cerebus do in the book that *SQUEE* a lot of people off is coming up soon, if you haven't gotten to it yet. It was pretty unusual at the time, because Dave did most of his "*SQUEE* people off" in his editiorials and not so much in the story back then.

Digging the Secret Sacred Wars Roach, didn't like when Cerebus was high (with Mick Jagger.. that was just hard to read, really), and yes, I've been skipping around a little bit. I know he takes out the rock guy.

Not there yet. Still going to let the book play out as it does.

So far, Cerebus, to me, is a very very fearful character. He's afraid of success and failure so bad that he loves being the turkey at the turkey shoot. I was actually thinking about this today on my walk home from work and Macross Plus jumped into my head. Isamu Dyson reminds me a lot of Cerebus. Hot head, running off, living for the adrenaline rush. Then there is that Guld Bowman part of him, too. More like a reluctant hero, almost anti-hero, love me or leave me, don't try to change me.

Thus, the events yet to come, make sense. Sick as they are, are expected.

The loss of Bran was dissapointing.

I believe so. I'm at the parts where Thorn and 2 of the Bones are kind of wandering around deciding whether or not to meet grandma at the old man's cave.

It feels like this has been going on a while.

I've been re-reading some older Green Lantern stuff. Up through issue 8 of the 89-04 series(volume 3) and comics have certainly changed. There's less dialogue and more splash pages. But, specific to GL of the period, while the artwork and the line-art are fine, the colors...was it just the process they were using, have my books faded or am I just spoiled by the advances in color since then? They seem a bit dull. I'm going to go with a mix of fade and spoiling but man. Anyways, as to the story...

So, Guy Gardner goes from being a "swell fellow" in Emerald Dawn to an A-1 prick by # 1? I'd forgotten that. I seem to recall a transition but apparently not. I don't even remember the whole "Old Timer" story about the insane Guardian but I'm somehow reminded of elements from Blackest Night. I wonder if Johns was hoping nobody would notice. Not a great first story, this "Insanity of Old Timer/Appa" but not terrible, either. It just sort of ended, which is not the way I like stories to finish.

I've finally gotten myself around to working my way through DC's Trinity weekly series from 2008. I picked up all the issues as they came out, but my reading fell off at about issue 18 or 19, so I started over from the beginning and I'm about back to where I left off on the series after a week or so. Really enjoying it (as I did originally), as it really tickles my interest in superhero comics as a contemporary mythology.

I've read the first of the 3 collections. It wasn't bad but it wasn't superb, either. I'll finish it one day but it's not something I'm adding to my collection unless I can get them cheaply.

Just read all of Green Lantern: Circle of Fire. Not a bad story. Wonderful art and it was nice to see some of the interactions. I think the later ION series covered some of the same ground, just from a slightly different angle. I do wonder what GL would be like if Vaughn had a shot at it. Maybe he could get a stint on GL Corps or take over for Johns if he ever quits the book...

I started last night, just 1 book in and I really like it. There is some great stuff laid out.

Read more of this over the weekend. I like how it moves real fast in some points. I also like the "Watchmen-esque" magazine & newspaper inserts, there are not too long and add a bunch to the story.

Not a big fan of the weird baby creature, but the rest I like.

This is the kind of book, for me, that the experience of reading it is better than the actual story may be. It seems like something that I would not want to re-read, but I am really enjoying it. It has a "this is a different type of story" fell to it.

One of the best parts of it is that Miller has set it up so that almost anything could happen. That sense of intrigue and the mystery of what happens on the next page is very cool.

I'm diggin it.

I think too much plot and not enough story/character is the real problem.

Just finished up Green Lantern 137-155. What an up and down era this was. Wow. Some truly great mixed with some truly overdramatic. GREAT art, though. The villains, as such, were weak and lacked the depth of a papercut, but that was sort of balanced out by the major characters on the "Good" side. That, of course, was part of the problem. Sometimes it felt as though Winnick was trying too hard. I loved his handle on Alan Scott, though. I wouldn't mind seeing him in charge of a series with Alan as the "star".

Green Lantern 156-161. As the Winnick run winds down, I find myself thinking that this could be one of the most schizophrenic set of stories I've ever read. I can see why GL fans might have felt slighted, because except for interactions with Jade, Alan Scott and the occasional scene with the JLA, Kyle and the whole GL "miniverse", had become somewhat islanded. Oh, and there were dangling plot threads that cried out for SOMETHING. That said, I did enjoy seeing the way the GLC and especially MOGO were brought back. Loved when Mogo, in response to the invaders on his/it's? surface said "Good riddance. I planned to give them bad weather, anyway." That just ROCKED.

Just finished reading Walking Dead TPB vol 1 - 12. All I can say is Rob Kirkman is a genius and this has been one of the best reads ever. Now I am really looking forward to catching the television series airing on Oct 31st!

Actually, Dark Reign: Lethal Legion was quite good. Nice twist there.

Basically, the Grim Reaper puts a team together (with Nekra, Tiger Shark, Absorbing Man, Mr. Hyde, and a surprise hero) to take down Osborn. However, a member of the team turns them in and causes the death of the Grim Reaper. All this is told in a flashback as a lawyer interviews all the members, who are now imprisoned in the raft.

It's basically a super-villain murder mystery. I'd recommend it!
