He was the #1 guy in a story where they called special powered people "Supers". The #1 "Super" man.dave wrote:Really?greg wrote:Mr. Incredible (Pixar/Disney/Dark Horse)
He was only super strong. He couldn't fly, he didn't have super speed or ice breath or nuthin!
What are our parameters here? Invulnerable = Supes knock off?

Original Superman couldn't fly either.

Yep. As they said "Faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound..."dave wrote:True.greg wrote:He was the #1 guy in a story where they called special powered people "Supers". Thanks for the responses, everyone. I am a huge fan of Superman and all ripping him off, as I think he has the coolest powerset ever. A little auto-bio, although I had seen comic book shows and individual books I really got into comics as a side effect of my interest in pulp fiction and hard science fiction.
Once I stumbled across (here are more slight analogs) Hugo Danner and Doc Savage, I knew that the genre for me was the ones where individual people had the power to change the course of history. Not by a confluence of luck, but by sheer, outright superiority.
I actually don't think DC was right in suing Fawcett for Captain Marvel. I don't like IP to begin with, but even from a literary standpoint Captain Marvel is very distinct from Superman. He doesn't have nearly as many powers. Marvel is basically flying, magical version of the Hulk. How is he like Supes at all, other than that they are both strong and fast? What hero doesn't possess those attributes? If you believe Jimmy Dean, Big John could hold up a collapsed coal mine. Perhaps he's a Superman knockoff?

I actually used to work in a shake shop next to a gym where there was a guy named Rocco, who wore a suit and tie (habit from being a Safeway manager). He was young, tall, body-builder but proportioned muscled and good looking so we all called him Clark.sanman wrote:No, he is a genuine superhero—along with arch enemy, Evil Greg. However, not sure if the pair is more analogous to Superman and Lex or Superman and Bizzaro.
He actually did several supehero things, such as pulling a guy out of a Porsche he was trying to steal with one arm, he averted a bar fight (which he had no role in creating) by physically restraining two people, one with each arm. He was also a very nice guy.
