Hey, at least the last update on the qotes was only a year ago - hell it has been a year and ahalf since the last news item and almost 2 years since the last press release. :?

mtv on 2/9/2009 wrote: Looks like yet another comic book property may be heading for the multiplex soon, as Variety breaks the news today that Rob Liefeld's signature series, "Youngblood," has been acquired by a partnership consisting of Reliance Big Entertainment, Brett Ratner's Rat Entertainment, and Julia Roberts' Red Om Films for the feature film treatment.

In the Variety piece, Ratner -- who has signed on to direct the flick -- said, "Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and 'Youngblood' is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential. It was a real personal passion project for me, and a lot of people wanted ['Youngblood'], but the amazing thing about the guys at Reliance is the speed with which they're able to move."

Variety reports that the six-figure deal for the rights to "Youngblood" were finalized at the Berlin Film Festival, the "Berlinale." The comic follows the adventures of a high-profile team of superheroes sanctioned and overseen by the U.S. government, led by Shaft -- a former FBI agent also happens to be an expert archer.

Who are these mystery people? Can he back this up?

Probably the same people that really want a Brigade movie...

He must have liked the Spawn movie.

I just don't see Youngblood as a tentpole picture. Furthermore, it wasn't a great book, at least what I remember of it. Perhaps they're are multiple volumes of it out there like every other book. I remember when it came in the shop I looked at it and put it right back down.

Some of the Image books weren’t to bad . . I remember liking Deathblow . . . I am pretty sure Youngblood was awful . . .

Eh, take away the history and signifigance that 40 yrs or more of backstory and certain defining artists/writers gives a title and essentially, you get Image's version of X-Men/JLA/Avengers/etc. I never thought it was that bad of a title, I enjoyed it for what it was.
