Or hold on for later when it goes higher.

(BTW, I do not have one of these. So I have no part in any flippage.)

Same here. I'll wait for the price to come down first.

I’m too much of a collector—I really need to buy multiple copies of things again. If the book goes through the roof, I’m still going to hold on to it for my set. :!:

No, no man... hold onto your COLLECTION, as it should be. It's all good. You have your parameters in which you like to collect and are staying true to them. You didn't buy them in the first place to flip but to keep. I like that.

I think maybe a bit, but look at companies like Dynamite then Marvel and DC. They have MULTIPLE variant covers... some up to five. The highest I have seen on Dynamite is seven, I believe.

So far with Dark Horse:
FCBD: 1 variant (but limited to 1,000 copies)
Doctor Solar #1: 2 variants (one with the relaunch and one at SDCC)
Magnus #1: 1 variant (one with the relaunch)

I am not a variant 'fan' (with these books, I 'am' getting one of everything or trying to) but even with the limited number of variant covers, IMO it is not that bad, when I compare it to others. Greater thing is, to my knowledge there are no variants planned for any issues after #1 in a series. So far, I have not seen any evidence of a Solar #2 variant cover... unless I am misinformed. With one variant on the #1 issue at the relaunch, I can live with that. The Convention variants, I think that is another field altogether and THAT is the place to get the variants as part of 'The Con Swag' and something to bring people to the Cons (like they are not packed already). I remember at SDCC, the Top Cow booth had special variant covers for many an issue. Some a reprint and some just for the current issue (I 'think' they were giving some out and others were $5.00).

The cool factor thing is that the great looking covers for Solar and Magnus are the regular covers!!! The variants are from the artist. You would think that how great the 'regular' covers are that 'those' would be the variants. I think it a good call on Dark Horse's part to make the regular covers, amazing pieces of art. Very good call. Only bad part on that take is that seeing the cover art is mis-leading, IMO. I think it should be like Crossgen always did... the art on the cover is done by the same artist who is drawing the comic and that was policy. Now can you imagine an entire Solar or Magnus issue with all of the art being done by Korvach or Swanland ?

Yeah, as long as that's all of the variants, I don't mind what they've done so far. Plus, the prices for all of them, with the exception of the SDCC book, was very reasonable.

I don’t feel that Dark Horse has taken advantage of our enthusiasm. Moreover, I’ve like the variants so far and would have been disappointed if there weren’t any at all.

Good stuff. :thumb:

Compared to some of the ridiculous stuff DC and Marvel pull with the variants, DH has been very smart with how they've done the variants.

True, there are some IDW titles I’d like to check out—especially the Transformers titles—but too many variants and high cover prices have spoiled my interest.

I am in that SAME boat with you there bud. IDW books are looking GREAT, I picked up 4 or 5 titles and REALLY like them but the different covers are a drag, not to mention "Do I really want to do all of IDW ?" Not so into Transformers or GI Joe, but Infantry sure is a great read but I am not sure or I have never seen IF there was ever an issue #5 ?????

Noted, man. :thumb: I do not think we have seen ANY evidence that this IS occuring or will occur in the future. So far it is being handled with a great deal of maturity and respect for the characters.

I think we are pretty safe from the afforementioned crappyness that you have mentioned. I will be very shocked if this crappyness were to happen.

StarBrand wrote:A sale of 39.99 on this book is now in the books. If I'm not mistaken, that's a record amount for the C2E2 variant, at least on eBay.
I thought more copies were going to come forward on eBay in the last few days. I would think a few may be listed now.
I don't think people are sitting on many copies of this book, though.
Sales on eBay of the C2E2 FCBD variant going back to August 21st:

23.62
22.49
29.99
29.99
39.99

I saw a listing on MileHighComics.com for the C2E2 FCBD Variant for well over $100! I forget what it was....I think it was $186 on sale! I wonder if anyone has bought one for that price? Thats nutz!!! :atomic:

I just put up a set including the C2E2 edition as well as the regular FCBD edition, and a Solar #1 SDCC Variant, along with a double-sided DH Solar/Mags poster, for $75 BIN or Best Offer on eBay.

Wish me luck...
