Do The Dark Horse Gold Key comics meet the hype?

So far, so good. Exactly what I expected!

Neither here, nor there. I'll support Jim regardless.

Not real happy. If these don't improve, back to Wolverine and Spider-Man I go.

I don't believe so... if there is to be a variant cover, I have yet to find an add or an image of it.

It was not until I read the issues that "I" felt any hype (again all IMO)... and now I am pretty damn excited about all of it.

Seeing the original art for Solar #2, I was NOT very excited but seeing the colored piece.... my, my what a difference. But I know from the past not to judge a book by its........ ART. Back when Valiant first started off, I laughed at it and really thought how 'this crap' could be so expensive but then I actually READ an issue and was totally surprised. IMO, it is the same right now, no matter the art, the STORYTELLING has it's hooks into me. A big thank you to Mr. Jim Shooter for making that 'magic' come back to comics and these characters again.

I didn't mind Solar #1s art at all, just fine. Having seen the colored art for Solar #2 (which ships on 25 August, 2010 everyone !!!), I have to admit that I am even more excited.

Right now... I'd say, I have the Madness !!!! :thumb:

Last week it was said to be shipped on Sept. 8th due to the art! :atomic:

I feel that Dark Horse has screwed up with the marketing of these books.

Agreed.

Two issues in, the launch has been what I expected so far. Some elements were missing from the books that Jim originally intended to be included so they could have been even better. Let's hope the translation to print of Jim's scripts improve as this launch moves forward.

DH could have something really special with this line and should consider expanding the length of these books from 22 pages as needed when Jim's scripts warrant the extra. Solar #1 would have especially benefited from the clarification that an expanded story would have provided in its inaugural issue.
