Looks like he has 9 available.
Was going to make an offer on these, but the description says very good condition. Either they have problems, or the seller doesn't know how to grade, which is still a problem to me.

Always best to leave well alone when the seller uses incorrect terminology methinks.

No disrespect to the seller..just couldn't tell what shape they're in. :thumb:

Looks like this seller accepted an offer on his final 8 copies of this book. This may bring about some more movement on future copies.

I'm interested to see how much this one goes for, as there's only one other copy on eBay via a U.S. seller and one outside the U.S.
The seller has a rating of 1 and is closing the auction tonight in the middle of the night, which certainly doesn't help.

This big seller just relisted his SDCC Doctor Solar 1 variants. This time he makes 50 copies available. I know this isn't the SDCC Doctor Solar 1 thread, but I think it's clear there are more of these in the marketplace than the C2E2 variant, and with this seller having so many still it may be awhile before this book can move up. Wasn't there a reported print-run of 2,000 SDCC Doctor Solar 1s and 1,000 C2E2s?

The seller is located in San Diego... odds are that the book didn't come close to selling out during SDCC,
and this must be the guy who wound up with the leftovers.
Otherwise, he's a speculator satisfied with minor gains and quick turnaround.

I've seen this seller go for volume sales before. I noticed he charges 1.50 per additional comic for shipping...
As the launch gets going, it'll be interesting to see how his sales on this book progress.

I don't think we are going to see big bucks for these variants unless all of a sudden the DH books take off and people busing through plate glass windows trying to buy the copies that are out there. We would really need a 'oh my God, Jim Shooter is writing Solar again' moment to see a rise on these.

I look at prices now and see them as fans from a long time ago, fans from Valiant and variant fans now picking these up. Otherwise, UNIL (meaning I anticipate that it will :) ) Solar takes off, the books will wax and wane depending on availability and patience in buyers. There are some out there waiting for said prices to go under $5.00 and will finally tire of the wait and pick up their $8.00 to $14.99 copy just to get it over with.

I have one of each variant and now the signature book enroute and I am happy with that. I still feel that they ARE special in regards that Jim Shooter is writing Solar and the art is pretty snazzy.

Really, I am glad that the books are finally out there and in the hands of the fans to read and enjoy.

That's a solid post. I'm glad we all have the chance Dark Horse has provided us to see how these things unfold. :)

I think the big difference between the C2E2 variant and the SDCC variant is in the method of distribution.

The C2E2 variant was given out at the retailer summit at C2E2, so the thousand copies are spread really evenly amongst a number of sellers.

The SDCC variant was distributed by Diamond to a small number of retailers in high quantities.

With the C2E2 variant, we've got a ton of dealers with a few copies. With the SDCC variant, we've got a few dealers with a ton of copies.

Dealers with a bunch of copies of something are gonna want to unload it fast, and cheap. A dealer with one or two copies of a book might be willing to hold it hoping it will go up in value long term. I think the scarcity of the C2E2 books on the market has a lot more to do with their distribution amongst dealers rather than the pure numbers available.

For niche books like Doctor Solar and Magnus, 1,000 copies is a pretty large number. 2,000 is an even bigger number.

Agree 100%... I also take into consideration how popular the series will be in the months and hopefully YEARS to come. The number of copies IS considerably low (in comparison to a regular issue comic) but if nobody WANTS it, then who cares how many were printed. I own many copies of the 'see through' chromium 'Aster' from Entity Comics. Only 600 made !!! And yet, I have a few of these and got them for pennies on the dollar. Yes, my goal is to own all 600 copies one day... crazy thing is, It's POSSIBLE !!!! hahahaha I kid. But nobody wants them, they are not in demand from what I have seen.

Maybe even if these properties ever find their way back into the Valiant universe again. I think Jim has opened that option with the 'different realities/universes' idea as well. Very clever on his part. But I have come to expect that from Jim Shooter... I greatly admire him for how clever he can be.

If we had more of that in the comic industry today I think I would be able to go through Previews with less of a WTF attitude. My opinion of what is on the racks right now is summed up in one word... chaos.

On track post, Dr. Solar...

It depends on just how 'niche' Doctor Solar is. There are different degrees of niche. I think people are going to want these variants, and they'll do well, if the new line does well.
I think that Aster book is far more niche than the Doctor Solar 1 variants. :)

The same buyer went back and bought the remaining 35 copies, and has now purchased all 50 of these.

6 bucks each?

Someone's doing a project book, or they overpaid.

A copy of the C2E2 Dark Horse FCBD variant sold yesterday by a seller outside the U.S. for an amount listed as approximately US $23.79. A second copy sold yesterday for 22.49 on a best offer. A third copy sold yesterday for 29.99 on a BIN. Only one copy is now available on eBay, for a BIN of 39.99.
Maybe a few copies will now be listed. In my view it's short-sighted to sell this book cheaply right now. I still hold it could pass Unity 0 Red in value, and expect it to do so, if the launch is a success.

Kinda good news to hear that the book is on the rise, but at the same time... I could personally care less. I just hope that good storytelling continues and we have something to eagerly wait for every month. And at the price of the books, the number of pages is seeming well worth the money for the price tag. :thumb:

I know what you mean. It's going to be exciting if this launch lives up to its potential for being a great new line of books/universe.:thumb:

UnknownTales put one up last night for 29.99 and it sold in a few hours, so count that as another one.

No, I was just referring to the possibility of someone listing it cheap. In view of UnknownTales selling another copy at 29.99 last night, and his copy going virtually immediately, I doubt anyone here reading this thread will put one out cheap at the moment.
I expected a few folks might put their extra copies out right now, just as UnknownTales did. Let's see if anyone else puts them up.
I'm not willing to take 29.99 on this book at the moment, and will welcome others doing so. Let's see how many buyers there are at 29.99, for one.
Too, maybe someone will break out multiple copies and drop the price short-term. Somewhat unlikely, but possible. I also thought a few more people would put out their extra copies by now. Not that I think there's that many copies out there, though, that aren't already in collections.

A sale of 39.99 on this book is now in the books. If I'm not mistaken, that's a record amount for the C2E2 variant, at least on eBay.
I thought more copies were going to come forward on eBay in the last few days. I would think a few may be listed now.
I don't think people are sitting on many copies of this book, though.
Sales on eBay of the C2E2 FCBD variant going back to August 21st:

23.62
22.49
29.99
29.99
39.99
