What's Your Level Of Enthusiasm At For The New Dark Horse Line? Please vote, with 5 being the greatest possible level of enthusiasm down to 1 being the least amount of enthusiasm for the new line of Dark Horse Gold Key books.
I may do a similar poll in three months to see how levels of enthusiasm have changed over time.

Hmm...probably a four. I would be more excited if all of the characters from GK were reuniting with the Valiant universe.

For me..... less than middle.

If it was the Valiant Universe, a 5 out of 5.

I gave a two, mainly for what DJ said.
I dont even own them and havent read them either as yet.

I do think they can do well and will get them as and when.
Im hoping to get them at the next show at seriously discounted prices and multiples too.

I said it a year or so ago, I am falling out of love with comics. I read the FCBD issue and it really hasn't made me want to go out and buy the new books. I have some C2E2 variants I want to flip, but that's about all.

I went with a four. I've really enjoyed the beginning of Magnus, Solar looks like it has potential since the change of artist. But I'm not chasing variants or dying to read the next issue now, kinda thing.

I chose 3...

Initially I was very excited, but the art on Doctor Solar has cooled my enthusiasm. I think its likely that I will not be reading most of these books past the first six months. :!:

4. I'm always happy to see new Shooter books and I hope the line succeeds, but as a collector, I've had other books vying for my attention and I haven't yet bought the multiples that I had hoped to when the line was first announced.

Probably a 3 upon seeing the news...

Now that I've seen the books?

Probably a zero.

I'll be amazed to see either one last more than 6-7 issues.

somewhere in the middle.

Art was  writing was :| so it's hard to gather any real joy when you realize it's STILL not VALIANT, so some of my fav characters won't be involved.

Ouch. Magnus wasn't bad. I can't defend Solar.

I'm at a 2.

I might go up to Dr. Solar #6 and ]Magnus #4 and then just go to TPB on the rest of the stuff. I'll give Mighty Samson, and Turok each a try but so far it feels more like Shooter is just dialing in a rehash of Valiant stuff.

Still at a 5 but I came into this not expecting them to be as good as the early Valiant runs. We have to remember these are based on the Gold Key characters not the Valiant versions. Sure Solar 1 and even Mags 1 could have been better but I expect these titles to improve as the stories develop. We all know how Jim excels at seeing the "big picture". I just hope Jim is allowed more input/control by DH.

(I know I'm going to be hit by bricks for this but...)

Jim..is an OKAY :hm: writer, as an editor (barring the inflexibility that's been documented) he's better.

I can't say where these series will end up. :?

My enthusiasm has waned with the lack of comics. With 4 ongoing titles there should be a book every few weeks. If/when that starts happening it will get fun.

After reading Solar 1-4 and Magnus 1-3 it seems like the first arcs are to establish the character/world with a more lighthearted adventure story without delving much into origins.

We'll start to get some back story in the second arcs with the backup stories, and hopefully he'll start to smash some of the status quo's he's been setting up. Shooter's best Valiant stories were the unconventional ones :thumb:

Yeah, it would certainly help matters if DH would start releasing the books in a timely manner.

My interest varies by title after what I've read up to today's releases:

Magnus: 4.5 out of 5 LOVE IT
Turok: 3.5 out of 4, like it so far but need to see more
Samson: 2.5 out of 5, could go either way
Solar: 1 out of 5, just can't get into it but never was a big Solar fan

I'm at a one. If each of these books reach their tenth issues, then maybe my excitement will shoot up again. The delays and zero promotion on Dark Horse's part is doing nothing to help. I'll still buy the books on release day but i'm not anxious for them like before. I predict March will be another skip month for the line too.
