What's a Shadow King and what was he supposed to do?
He's from the unpublished Shadowman Yearbook 2 that shows him in the Lost Land
on the cover. Probably the Shadowman of another time or the Shadowman clone
that Darque created to kill "his greatest enemies" who would've been trapped
in the Lost Land with A & A and Geoff. My money was always on the later.

I think X-O Manowar with Bob Layton at the helm. It would be GREAT if he would both write AND draw it, but if he did not have time for that then hopefully he would be able to write and he could get Bart Sears to do the drawing.

I think that would KICK BUTT!! :D
Hundreds of Valiant and Acclaim comics for GREAT prices! http://www.webstore.com/shop.php?user_id=96791

Realistically speaking, this is what I'd like to see.

Have Bob Layton pick up XO Manowar from where he left him, at the end of XO 68 and the revelation that everything after that was a dream.

Pick it up 8 years after that or something.

And maybe those who offended Layton could apologize so he can start posting here again and keep everyone else appraised.

I for one do hope he doesn't take over as editor in chief as I do still feel that everything that went wrong at VALIANT is on his shoulders.

I think the first thing Taddeo should do is Hire Bob Hall to do a mini-series that covers Jacks life from the end of issue #43 until his death. It's something we would all love to see and it can be in the creative stages while he figures out what to do with the properties.

Heres' the problem the board isnt big enough to sustain a valiant relaunch, even a mini. That is a story that only appeals to us fans but any new books will have to appeal to non fans too. Unless we start promoting valiant enough to bring more fans into the fold.

The way I see it is two fold

1- Valiant has to be reborn in a way that keeps us happy (thats most imporant :D ) AND draws new fans in. Whether through nostalga for the old books or hype from wizard, boards, online news, friends.

2- We, the fans, spread the word high and low. We write articles like "Valiant Days, Valiant Nights" and get them published online and in print. We write letters to Wizard and get them to print them or to do an article (Wizard will be THE most important factor in the valiant rebirth). We tell all our friends about valiant. We talk to store owners about valiant and hopefully this travels to thier regulars and they put the new books on thier pull lists. We promote valiant at cons. We post on every board, comic related or not, that we can post on about valiant.

I was just looking at cgc's forums and there is nothing about the valiant return. We should change that...

So, basically we do what we did when we used to try and get a Gold book back in the days.

We can do this.

Depends on the quality of the product and how's it's marketed. I don't think any comic fan objects to a good comic. Just as long their's enough ads and press to let people know it exists and retailers bother to carry it, it should stand as good a chance as "indi" comic out there. When Valiant was first released they had a lot more than old Gold Key fans, after all.

I agree with you that more fans are going to have to be brought into the fold. But you have to remember the members of this board aren't the only Valiant fans. There are lurkers here as well as the Ebay crowd. There are thousands of people who don't even have a computer. Not to mention all the fans that read and enjoyed the original Valiant U. when it came out but don't seek info/auctions because they already have the product. How much talk do you think Conan got before Dark Horse started the new series?

All I'm saying is that there is a large audience for these characters as long as they are done well.

BTW, was there that big a following for Magnus and Solar from the 60's and seventies in 1991? I remember thinking they were nuts for bringing these characters back, until I read the first four issues of Magnus. I think there are a lot of people who bought and read their Valiants, and if there's a demand around the Unity-levels, they'll sell quite a few copies.

Don't know if the pre-Unity #'s will sustain a company.

Hell, from now on, I'll come to the ring in a Shadowman shirt.

Mind you, I'll have to make a new one, because if someone even dared wrinkle my original I'd pulverize them in a heartbeat.

If it weren't for my fondness for Magnus, I would never have picked up a Valiant book. I would have been incredibly deprived.

Hmm... I guess I shoudl go with short. I'll have to see how big of a transfer I can make, though, and if I can do a white transfer on a black shirt...
