Question about Bloodshot 6 VVSS

Post by cjv »

I have an issue of Bloodshot 6 that is signed by Perlin and Kevin Van Hook. Is there some way to tell if this is one of the VVSS issues, or if it was just randomly signed by them (I know the Bloodshot 6 VVSS didn't come with a COA). For example, are they all signed in the same place, what color ink, etc?

Mine is signed in Silver ink, with Perlin just above Bloodshot's left hand, and Van Hook sort of between his legs.

feel around the cover lightly. if you feel a circularly embossed area, then it should be VVSS. it should say in the embossed area: Valiant Validated Signature Series. it can be kind of hard to read, but no hard to find the circle.

There is no embossed seal on the Bloodshot 6; and the ink has been red on all of the copies I've seen...
:hm:

I was at a local shop recently purchasing some fill-ins for my Valiant run and had asked if they had any signed comics. The owner was nice enough to give me a copy of Bloodshot 6 signed by Perlin and VanHook for FREE! By the by, it was also signed in red ink and placed in a Valiant mylar sleeve; on the back of the sleeve the Valiant logo is clear/embossed, not colored like the other VVSS's are......

That is the Bloodshot 6 VVSS, all right! Good score for free! Both of the Bloodshot 6 VVSS I have come across have had that same Valiant sleeve, which is different from all the other sleeves in that the Valiant logo is larger than normal and is transparent.

You're probably safe if you have the book signed by both guys in red and in the same spots as Greg's scan even if you don't have the original Valiant sleeve, but if it's signed by only one of those fellows and/or uses a different color ink, I wouldn't consider it a VVSS copy

Did the X-O Database come with a sleeve? I know it has a different kind of certificate than all the others, but did it come in a sleeve?

The X-O Database is the most difficult one to nail down. Some of them came with a COA, but a lot of them didn't. There were also different COA's from Diamond and a lot of the books came with obviously photocopied COA's. As for sleeves, one of mine came in a Valiant sleeve while another didn't. I've also seen different looking signatures on these books, but both with the typical silver ink. A very tough one to be sure of.

So I guess the one I have isn't a VVSS. Damn, I bought it thinking it was. I saw the signatures, in the correct locations, and was hoping it was.

If the message was intended for me, it makes no sense. :)

Steve G. wrote:Even though Valiant has stated that the Bloodshot #6 & XO Database are both part of the VVSS series, why don't either of these have the "Validation" embossing on the covers?
I think it's because they didn't come up with the idea to embossed them
until after BS #6 and XO DB #1 had been distributed.
They are "pre-VVSS"... before Valiant realized they could "certify"
the books (removing all the confusion and doubt) by using an embossed seal
and issuing certificates directly from Valiant.

It looks like it worked, since we only have questions about those two books
and we're all pretty sure about the VVSS books that came after.

That's it, the ultra rare platinum signature Bloodshot VVSS. :) "Print Run" of 2.

Hmmm...if the Bloodshot 0 Platinum sells for $750, I will sell my Platinum VVSS for that. ;)
