Not quite sure what you're asking here?

By order -- are you asking which volumes of books to do first? or by order, are you asking what order within a particular series?

If the former, there is no MASTER ORDER per se. I bound mine by which titles I wanted to do first. Unity, as a self-contained story, was one of the first books I did. Eternal Warrior, my favorite Valiant character was the next. Acclaim Bloodshot was another of my first books because that series is just freaking great from start to finish.

If the latter, check out the first several posts in this thread. There is no all-encompassing, correct binding order. It's personal preference. IanAlexavier has bound some of his book differently than I did; Moonchild adds all sorts of special features, etc. The bottom line for each storyline is how do YOU want it to be. The maps are guides and will give you the basic continuity, but there "guides" not the definitive answer.

Sorry I'm of no use sadly, as I'm not touching any of the Acclaim stuff myself.

Was hoping to contine it into accliam.

I like your mapping with 5 books, I think I will go with that.
The six book, accliam stuff ~ which just seems to be magnus.

Hoping for more in accliam to put into the Valiant 4000ad collection ~ so the book sizes are ruffly the same.

So there were no other Acclaim books set in the year 4000 time frame besides Magnus?

I just bound the Acclaim Magnus separately. And then put it on the shelves right after my Valiant Magnus books

IanAlexavier wrote:Hey guys.. Im trying to take care of the Malev War book for Magnus and Rai.

Based on the map, the Malev War takes up 30 issues.. see:

Book 2 - The Malev War (This is a BIG ONE! -- 1080 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 21 - 24
Rai and the Future Force(RFF) 9, 25, RFF 10 - 11, 26 - 29, RFF15, 30, RFF 16, 31, RFF 17, 32 - 33, RFF 18, 34, RFF19, 35, RFF 20, 36, RFF 21, 37, RFF 22 - 23, 38

Notice that the only Rai issues that it is missing are issues: 12, 13 & 14.

If I add those 3 issues then it turns into a 33 issues monstrosity! BUT.. then its a Magnus book AND a Rai book.. no need to have two books made.

Anyone ever done a 33 issue monster bind?

I plan on taking out the ads, if I can, and the back covers. And I dont THINK there are any other special books that need to be added.

Anyone? Bueller?
Well, my take was pretty different. I decided to totally combine the Magnus, Rai, and Psi-Lords series into the same books. I'm all about the story and willing to mix up the titles some to only need one copy of each book for the binding of them.

My map for this 4001 AD complete crossover came out as follows:

Book 1: Original MRF 1, MRF & Nexus 1-2, Vintage MRF 1-4, MRF YB1, MRF 0-4, MRF/Rai flipbook 5-8, MRF 9-11, Predator vs. MRF 1-2, MRF 12-14, RAI 1-5 (30 issues)

Book 2: MRF 15, RAI 6, MRF 16, RAI 7-8, MRF 17-24, RFF 9, MRF 25, RFF 10-11, MRF 26-29, RFF 12-15, MRF 30, RFF 16, MRF 31, RFF 17, MRF 32-33, RFF 18 (32 issues)

Book 3: MRF 34, RFF 19, MRF 35, RFF 20, MRF 36, RFF 21, MRF 37, RFF 22-23, MRF 38-39, PSI 1-3, MRF 40, RAI 24-26, MRF 41, Chaos Effect Omega, CE Ep1-2, MRF 42, RAI 27-30, MRF 43-46 (31 issues)

Book 4: PSI 4-7, Destroyer 0, PSI 8-10, MRF 47-48, RAI 31-33, MRF 49-64 (29 issues)

Total of 122 issues. It could also be broken out into 5 smaller books instead of 4 BIG books by placing the volume break points after MRF 14 for the end of book 1 (w/25 issues); after MRF 29 for end of book 2 (w/26 issues); after PSI 3 for end of book 3 (w/25 issues); after PSI 10 for the end of book 4 (w/25 issues); and finally after MRF 64 obviously for the end of book 5 (w/21 issues).

This is my plan at least, once I finish getting the few issues I need still and have a stable permanent job with money to spare for binding stuff. On the bright side, at least they have a Valiant spine decal which they didn't have a year or two ago when I first started thinking about binding my comics. I guess some good things do come to those who (are forced to) wait! :)

Putting mine together similar to yours.
their was no RAI 0, or compainion issue.

Rai zero before issue 9?
Were to put the compainion issue?

Ideas

Because of how my Book 2 was put together to combine Rai and Magnus, I placed Rai 0 and the Companion book in my Rai Book 1. :thumb:

My Rai and Magnus will have separate Book 1's.. but then be combined for Books 2 and 3.

Made a change in the Magnus map.

It looks like the PvsM books can be placed between issues 11 and 12. Take a look at the dates. PvsM took place in June 4001.

Issue 11 takes place in May 4001. Issue 12 takes place on June 15 4001.

Take a look and see what you think :thumb: :thumb:

Its a good story too. Brings the X-O helmet and such to the Magnus timeline. It also talks about Magnus being exiled to the goph levels which took place in issue 11.

Too bad I have my Magnus book 1 already bound :(

For Solar and Magnus HC's, shouldn't we use Unity 0 & 1 in each of those as well? I want too, not sure if I need to make any adjustments to make it flow better just yet.

A general question for all of you guys that bind books. What paper do you guys use to add extras to your bound books? I don't know if office paper will look that great.

Also, has anybody used Houchen Bindery? They bought out LBC and was wondering if you guys had feed back?

gotta use the expensive stuff, I use HP brochure paper. Only way to print front and back without bleedthrough.

I was wondering about this myself. I heard that LBC was being bought out, or that some of the people from there were starting their own company just for binding comics. Has that happened yet if anyone knows?

Houchen bought LBC a couple of months ago. If you go to LBC's website it has been cut down to nothing. The guy at Houchen said that they are slowly moving the stuff from LBC's website to the Houchen website.

LBC has, in fact, been shut down. They were bought by Houchens who seemingly just bought the company for their client list, then laid everybody off and shut the doors in Waco. There was some initial talk about the manager and the employees starting up a new bindery, but Houchens was very quick to send Jim Jasek a legal notice reminding him of a non-compete he signed with LBC. Since Houchens bought LBC, the non-compete seems to hold up -- so no new bindery in Waco.

I've been looking at other binder options and haven't decided where I'm going next. I have quite a few projects I want/need to get done, so I'm going to make my decision fairly soon.

I strongly recommend Herring and Robinson bindery in Brisbane California. They do have a website herringandrobinson.com but there is no information for comics there, best is to call and speak with Joel 415-468-0440 ...he is really nice guy.

I bound 63 books at LBC and I just got my first batch back from H & R and I must admit its much better and polished than LBC ever was. The standard price is $17.50 which includes head and tail lines. He also has different font sizes so its like basically getting handset font for free. They can match the font of LBC books. Only downside is he has no comic related dies. He can have them made and is willing to split the cost if the bindery can keep the die (about $25.00 for a small one)

Houchen has all the Valiant dies, and I still have many Valiant books to bind. I was thinking of using Houchen (since they have the Valiant logo).

So far I bound 6 books with Houchen (try out)-not bad but they didnt match my 3 New Warriors volumes (the roman numerals were out of place). Although not on their pricelist Houchen chages $1.65 per panel line (head and tail line price of $4 is not in effect).

I am not sure whether its worth to have H&R create the Valiant die for me or just use Houchen.

I've been seriosuly thinking about using Herring and Robinson. A member on another board uses them and is very happy with them.

Biggest issue I have is I just started binding my Batman/Detective collection by years and have been using a DC die as well as a Batman spine die, both were at LBC and owned by individuals. Houchens doesn't own either die and I wanted to try to match my first couple of binds. It's especially frustrating since I planned on binding by years and I've been jumping around, trying different thicknesses. So right now I have 1974 and 1982 bound. And I'm ready to send in 1964, 1986, 1987, and 1988 but I don't have access to the original spine dies.

I've been thinking about just forgetting about my original plan which was imitation leather and matching spines (except for the publishing year) and just make dust jackets, but my anal-retentiveness is really come to the forefront.

I may just wait on the Batman/Detective binds and continue with other projects. I don't know.
