I'm not saying it's the next Chew or anything, but the buzz is good so far on Morning Glories #1. If you are looking for something new to read, you might want to give it a shot.

The shop I went to didn't get any copies. Bummed as I really wanted to read it tonight! I plan to track it down tomorrow.

Edit:

It's up as the pick of the week at Ifanboy.com.

Sold out at Diamond on the release day. Second print due in September.

I picked this up.

The basic premise is that a bunch of kids get recruited to a prep school. But not all is as it seems... to say more than that ruins a lot of the fun of this issue.

Published by Image.

I think this series is largely gonna depend on how well the payoff is delivered, and what the payoff is. This first issue had a bit of setup, and the fact that their are mysteries was established.

This first issue was largely spent introducing the characters and the setting.

I ordered it through DCBS but I won't get to read it until the end of this month when they ship my comics.

I read it. I agree with Doc Solar's post above so I won't say much about the story.

It looks like it's going to be a $3.50 book from now on and the writer has said each issue is probably going to have more than the regular 20-22 pages. I think he said the lowest script so far calls for 26 pages.

There's something about this cover that I've never liked. I can't tell if it's the inks or the colors that just bother me. Thankfully, I really like the interior art as the cover isn't a reflection of what's inside. Joe Eisma is the interior artist. He does good, clean work that's not over the top.

This issue is good enough that I'm certain I'll want to pick it up again soon and re-read it. And I'll probably read it again when the next issue comes out.

Interesting start, but we'll see where it goes.....

Me too after reading early reviews, I couldn't wait.

I think that if you ordered a copy from DCBS, I think it should be coming with a sketch from the artist. Bonus!!

I finally got my copy of the other bonus from the other Image / Shadowline book - the script for Cowboy Ninja Viking #2. Seems like Shadowline is doing alot to try and get people on board with their books.

Interesting. I felt the opposite. I really like the cover.

The interior pages though, kinda meh. I like the clean, minimal line style of the art, but it didn't quite seem up to par during action sequences. It felt a little stiff.

ok, since 400 said this book was going to be the next Chew, I went out and bought three copies.

So now if this book stays worthless, I'll have someone to sell them back to.

silly-assness intended, I know he said it's NOT the next Chew, but I really did buy three copies

Just because of this thread I bought two copies just in case. You are not alone

Already some action on ebay on this. Not big profit, but a bunch of sales.

I might have to go and get one of these.

Ummm, guys....... re-read the first post. I intentionally said that this isn't the next Chew. I guess saying what I said may have backfired. I even italicized "new to read".

With that being said, after I read it, I went out and bought the last 3 copies that I could find between six stores.

edit: Just read the small part in bro J's post. Whew.

Yeah, in the small print in my post, I mentioned I was being a wiseass.

That being said, a quick sell through like this book has had can't be a bad thing. I really only intended to buy one copy, but the lame *SQUEE* store I went to has a policy where you have to at least purchase $10 worth of stuff to use your credit card. Since most of the other stuff they had looked like *SQUEE* and I didn't want another copy of Magnus #1, I said WTF and bought three copies just in case.

When it was solicited, I definitely thought to myself, "X-men rip-off". However, I think there's going to be more to it than kids with powers learning at a school. Hell, the kids might not even have powers. Plus, since it's an Image book, the writer can do things like actually kill characters off, show blood and gore, etc.

In all honesty, there is rarely an original idea nowadays in comics. The only recent book I can think of that's really original is Chew.

Well, seeing that all of the cover priced copies were quickly snatched up on ebay and there's only one auction copy up, I put one up for $30 BIN. Looks like an international seller had a similar idea for $24.

It probably won't sell, but will probably bring out more copies for sale at $10-15.

I decided to go the auction route, since it's free:

My LCS had about 6 copies left on Saturday. Should I bother cleaning him out tomorrow? Are these copies moving on ebay?

Didn't he say Haunt is the next Chew?

I don't think I could drop Haunt fast enough.

No. Buy one and read it. It's too new to be doing anything on ebay.

Heh. Don't think so. Haunt sucked. It was too over-printed and a crap story to boot. People who read crap like the new Brigade might enjoy it though. :thumb:

Rad! I had a strange feeling this book was going to be big. I ordered a few copies from Mail Order Comics and I can't wait to get them at the end of the month and try to flip them!

If you check the ended auctions on these, they have all closed at cover price or less. There is only one active copy that has been bid up past cover currently. So no certain thing that this is going to be the "next hot book".

Mile High still has copies in stock at cover, but apparently Lone Star is sold out.
