Just won a copy of Fantagraphics' "I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets", the first in a two volume set of books collecting the weird, eccentric, and sometimes very disturbing Golden Age stories of Fletcher Hanks.

Hard to believe this stuff was being published around the same time as Superman's earliest adventures.

Got it for 99-cents plus $4.00 shipping!

Today at a little show I picked up 2 unity reds, an Eternal Warrior 1 gold embossed, Archer and Armstrong 0 gold, Rai 9 gold, and Magnus 0 w/o card for 60 bucks. Not like my nickel finds but still decent and I needed all of them too except the reds. I have three now because I am off in the head!

Sweet deal. It's always cool to find books like these in dollar bins, but for $60 that's a steal as well.

I found this in the bin at my local Hastings Entertaiment store today.
A lot of these stores have been getting random assortment of back issues.
I've been looking for a no cover price variant of this book for years!

IMHO, they have been rare... I don't think the series picked up and caught on with everyone until close to #10.

Im pretty sure # 2 is still the killer to grab.

I sold a copy for £23 before # 6 was out and saw a copy go for that in the last few months after all this time.

#s 2 & 3 of any series like this are always the tough ones... #1 are expected to sell some, but who knows with 2 & 3, and with orders being put in 3 months in advance, orders are always low.

I've found some decent books here as well... the person handling the pricing must have no rhyme or reason or intelligence.

Nah only up to about 4 or 5. From 6 they are reasonably common I think.

I have talked to the (regional?) guy here. I caught him in the store one day and bent his ear a little while about selling back issues.

Their business model is totally broken. They insist that if they give in store credit for comics when they acquire them then when they sell the comics they are working on a 100% profit margin.
