Wondercon
Has anyone here attended Wondercon in recent years? I'm wondering if it's still a comic book show, or if it's become an entertainment bonanza along the lines of SDCC.

I went in 2009 and it's more of a comic show and less of a Hollywood scene compared to SDCC. I picked up some TPBs and comics. There were $1 bins, TPBs at 50% off, and other comics for sale. Some were over-priced, some not so. They have artist alley and Hollywood celebrities signing photos. There's anime and manga but like I said, a lot less Hollywood.
Here's a pic I took of the floor. As you can see, it's nowhere as crowded compared to SDCC. I went to SDCC about 6 years ago and it was pretty crowded back then.

I've gone to Wondercon for the last ten years. It's a great show.
It is put on by the same people that do Comic-Con, but then again, they also do APE, which is about as opposite to Comic-Con as can be.
It is very comic-centric, there are only tiny hints of Hollywood. There are no giant Lucasfilm, Warner Brothers, etc booths.
I also love it because it is a 10 minute walk from my apartment, and there are some decent bars to hang out at in the vicinity.
It isn't quite as big as NYCC, or, I imagine, C2E2. It seems to be about on par with Emerald Con in Seattle, or Heroes Con in N. Carolina, or any of the bigger, more major shows.
If you are just going for comics and comics dealers, Wondercon is nothing special. It's the same old dealers that are at every show. I walk around, and see long box after long box of stuff I've looked at at every show for the last two years.
I've met a decent group of local folks that are fun to hang out with though, and that makes the Con fun.
