Thanks for the update Greg. I CAN'T WAIT to hear the details about the characters and his plans for a mini-series to re-boot the Valiant Universe!! I really hope Bob Layton is a part of it along with some of the other Valiant alumni like Kevin VanHook, Bart Sears and BWS! :thumb:

He already has a working relationship with Bob and Bart so hopefully it would not be too much of a stretch to get them back in the Valiant fold! :hope:

Out of curiousity, perhaps the forums should be restructured?

A VH-1 forum, VH-2 (or Acclaim), and now a VH-Taddeo?

We could also expand the registered member forum, perhaps having one for VcVSS or maybe something called fan projects?

Just a couple of ideas. Feel free to ignore. :)

Once things are "moving" toward new books in print,
I expect that this messageboard will be re-organized.

Unless, of course, you are too busy in your new role as Taddeo's new EIC... :D Hey - he could do worst.

Hello everyone.

I've visited here a few times in the past for news, but now with the posiibility of Valiant characters coming back into print, well, I am very excited. I read a few titles here and there, but my main book was Shadowman.I read it back in the day, and gave the Acclaim version a chance, but nothing beat the classic series for me.

I hope John Taddeo is succesful in reestablishing this universe. I don't know if he has any creators in mind for any of the titles, but I'd love to see some of the original artists (BWS especially) come back, even if it's just for a brief run or limited series. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself, but it's just really exciting.

Welcome to the boards. We are all excited over the recent sale as well. I guess time will tell as far as who is willing to come back and work with Valiant again. So far it looks like Bob Layton is more than ready too, but I don't know about the others yet.

John Taddeo called to let us know that even though
the auction is over, the closing has not taken place.

For legal reasons, John can't talk about the sale until it is final.

He's anxious to return to the boards to hang out with us again soon.

He apologized for the lack of details to this point,
but hopes we understand that it's due to legal reasons,
and not because he doesn't want to share information with us.
Thanks for the news Greg !

Man....

Taddeo sounds like one hell of a guy. I think Valiant has found it's way into the right hands.

I wonder if we'd have new books by now if John Taddeo really had won the auction...

Probably not.

He's got the right to publish Zoom Suit comics and how long since one of those has popped up?

And if you people *SQUEE* about variants now...

Well, to be fair, regardless of what Taddeo said, I think ZS was planned as a short range book. Sell the *SQUEE* out of issue 1, 2 and 3 and all gajillion variants and then let it fade as people realize it's crap. When people and retailers are locked into ordering 3 months in advance, a mini advertised, marketed and gimmicked like crazy is probably a good way for a cash grab.

I am going to say no. This is from what I observed and my conversation with him at SDCC the year the ZS books came out. I stopped by his booth, yes he spent the cash to have one, and there was little to no trafffic around him. he had all the variants displayed and I picked up several to complete the collection. I try to support small publishers as I am one myself.

We talked for a while and he said how much work it takes to put into the issue. He explained that every panel had some gag reference whether in art or dialog. It was an exhausting, detailed process and he wrote the whole thing himself. I asked if there was a new series or other titles coming out and he said he needed to take a break after this series. It felt like code to me that it wasn't going to well with sales.

I shook his hand and wished him well. The rest of the days, as I passed by I did not see traffic to even support the cost of the booth.

I believe he wanted the sales from the variants and the PR from the short film to ramp up existing sales to support new series. It didn't happen. He also purchased a character from a defunct company. The one punching Osamma on the promo. It and his sex-college book never made it to print.
