Story
First of all, great site, really glad Valiant is still alive after it's untimely demise. I truly miss those anticipated Wednesday's looking forward to what's out that week, seeing those distinct covers amid the same as usual Marvel, DC, Image etc...
I am 43 and started reading comics with the death of superman that we all remember. That issue basically led me to the comic stores where I discovered other titles, among them - Valiant! Yes, that was around 1993-1994 so I did miss out on a few Valiant starts but made up for it along the way. I found the Valiant universe very different that the other titles and it made me seek out all titles from Mr. Shooter. I read, collected them all including Valiant Voice and other such promo's with delight. I had several long boxes of valiant, neatly arranged in order, bagged and boarded. Them came several moves over the course of many years and it was getting old toting around these heavy filled to the brim white boxes. You know where this is going! I tossed them all one day, I remember it well thinking I won't re-read them so why keep them. Well, we all want what we don't have because years later it hit me. Why the heck did I do that? Of course I want to read them again. So, for a few years now I have been starting again and have so far amassed a nice collection, probably 80% complete. I have also started to read them again in the publication order and am really enjoying this. What a dummy though for tossing my prized mint collection! But I do enjoy checking this board daily for Valiant discussions, it keeps the fever going. I also have built back up my Defiant comic collection as well. I truly miss Jim Shooter and gang from weekly comics!
Ok guys, you can start your comments about how stupid it was to throw out a complete collection....here, i'll go first.....duh!!!!!

Welcome to the board!
If it's not too painful... can you describe this event? Where did you put them? On the curb? In a large bin behind a business?
Is it possible they weren't ruined and someone (like the trash pickup person) salvaged them?
Your story is sad... but also interesting.

Thanks guys, glad to be here.
Greg, I basically placed like 3 long boxes in my apartment dumpster around 2004.......uhhhhhmm, then just walked away
Luckily, these days the prices for those back issues are sane so I am building up my complete collection and not breaking the bank.
p.s. I am also a huge Jack Kirby fan!!! But will always love Jim Shooter and the gang
