Newt's valiant story
Hey all ,I am kinda new here. Been reading the forums off and on for about 3 years, but really didn't start posting till a few months ago.
Ok here's my Valiant story. Back when Valiant first came out,I was in High school. And was a major comic fan,but for some reason the only Valiant title I ever picked up was X-O manowar 4. Enjoyed the book, but never got anymore. Had two older cousins that were huge Valiant speculators, and sometime back in the mid 90's I borrowed the Harbinger TPB from one of them and read it. Well flash forward to 2007 and I had forgotten all about Valiant, and really hadn't read any comics in about 5 years. Discovered the Valiantfans.com website and started reading thru a couple of threads. Got interested in the various Valiant titles, and remembered that the local comic shop had a huge amount of them in the 50 cent bins. So the next day I head to the shop, and find out the old owner had sold it to 4 of his customers. They had gotten rid of the cheap bins, and all the Valiant they had left were priced 1 or 2 bucks over cover price. And the stuff they had is all to super common stuff. So I just gave up on reading anymore Valiant. Well flash forward to July of 2008. I had just gotten a new job were I worked from 9pm till 8am 4 days a week. But most of that time I had nothing to do. Ended up running into one of the previously mentioned cousins at a funeral. And was telling him about the new job. He mentions he still has like 8 longboxes of various comics and I can have them for free. So of course I ain't gonna turn down free comics. I go get the longboxes, and dig thru them. And I found about 200 various Valiant comics. Plus about 10 or so Gold books. Well I got hooked on Valiant. And since then I have been buying off ebay, various online shops, and the nearest LCS,which is 3 hours away, all the Valiant comics I can find. Trying right now to get a complete reading set of all the Valiant comics, and maybe all the Acclaim comics.

Well like he said they were just taking up space in his home. And he knew I would not only read them but would keep them and not try to sell them. I really need to ask my other cousin that speculated on Valiant if he still has any of his stuff.Elveen wrote:Hola compadre. Nice cousin you have there.
