Comic-Con Hotels! Ugh!
OK I hate the new system!!!! It "MAKES YOU" choose 12 hotels before it will try and process your request and then it doesn't even tell you which hotel you end up getting.
I only researched like 3 hotels so that's what I put at the top of my list and then I randomly just picked 9 more hotels thinking that it would take me to a screen telling me what's available. NOPE! So now there is a possibility that it's going to stick me in some random hotel if my first 3 choices are unavailable. Of course I can cancel, but if I had known I had to make 12 choices I would of made some real choices...
Ugh!
Anyone else annoyed??

Both annoyed and kind of relieved. All I chose by was price and proximitydowntown or trolley (don't want to deal with traffic on the shuttle (and stuck w/ major chains for the most part, since if I wind up keeping the room, it will be because my gf is coming, and I need the place to be something of a known quantity). Prioritized anything around $200/night and within 2 blocks, left the rest to the powers that be. Less responsibility and agonizing over the decision, less call waiting for my top choice, to find out it's sold out, and start call waiting for another. Good luck to us all!
Well I finally just got confirmation 12 hours later!
But I screwed up. I woke up this morning right at 9 am and half asleep I put the Westin San Diego as my #1 choice (Manchester Grand Hyatt was my real first choice but never even appeared on the list?) ... I meant to put the Westin Gaslamp as my new #1! So now instead of 5 blocks from the convention center, I am 9 blocks and I'm out of the heart of the gaslamp which is a total drag. I'm hoping I can switch the hotel at some point, but I guess I should just be happy to have something.

So, I didn't receive a confirmation I guess. I called and they told me I would have to wait until 3/26 to find out what's going on as that is the due date for room deposits.
This year you have to pay for one night up front, I think they thought that would alleviate people tying up multiple rooms in multiple hotels. I think they just want to put a couple of million dollars in the bank and collect interest for a few months.
Anyway, I am not really concerned too much as last year rooms were opening up left and right in June. I think I moved my room 4 times to get where I wanted to be.
It's a pain though.

But it worked out great for us. YOur room was perfect for the poker game. The balcony was sweet.
