Interview with Clifford VanMeter- formerly of Valiant Comics

Post by sketchmaven »

On Sketch Maven, we just posted an interview with Clifford VanMeter of Valiant Comics, Comicolor and most recently Arctos Comics. Cliff gives advice, talks about about being at Valiant during its 90s heyday, and shares the best piece of advice that Bob Layton ever gave him. Hope you enjoy the read!

Nice interview. I like this part.
What’s your all-time favorite comic issue or series

Magnus Robot Fighter is up there, both theMagnus Robot Fighter #1 original Russ Manning and the one I worked on at Valiant.

In a portion that was deleted from the original interview, he said that now he really enjoys seeing men in skirts and this was the impetus...

I have chatted to him a few times via Facebook and he is a really cool guy. It is always nice to see a creator who has time for the fans.

I had a commission done by him, acrylic painting and was very pleased. Not sure if it was a sign of slow times, however his pricing was way better than other artists that I would consider the same caliber.

If your on the fence about getting one done, I suggest shooting him an email.

One note though, you have to appreciate his style of art though :thumb:
