How Important Will 2010 Dark Horse Gold Key FCBD Book Be?

Post by StarBrand »

The 2010 FCBD book from Dark Horse will officially be the first appearances of their Solar and Magnus characters in their new Gold Key line. What kind of potential does this book have if the Dark Horse Gold Key launch is successful? Also, doesn't that look like a potential new villain appearing in the two page preview of this book?

I'm just asking...... can a book that will be produced in such large quantities, and given away for free, have any lasting value?

I don't know. If somehow demand exceeds supply, I think so. I wonder what percentage of these comics won't survive in NM. Are stores or collectors putting away extra NM copies?
One thing for sure, there are potentially key first appearances in this book.

Yes, and others get destroyed because they're given away to non-collectors.

The circumstances of this book is totally different than the circumstances of Unity 0 when it was released, but they may be similiar in that they were both free with high print runs and perhaps will both be highly respected books.

Store/date stamps don't count negatively.

Just speaking as the price guide guy.

What about a store sticker like a mailing table that is stuck to the comic?

I ordered six of them since this is the new starting point for Solar and Magnus. I regretted not buying more early issues back in the day before Valiant took off. Who knows, lightning may strike twice...

That's what I'm saying. I don't want to risk any regrets on my orders on these.

There are examples of FCBD books going up in value. One that comes to mind is the Umbrella Academy FCBD book.
