For those of you who want to take horizoncomics up on their offer as posted above, just shoot them an email and let them know.

To reiterate, here's the deal being offered from horizoncomics to members of this board.
We'll have about 50 additional copies of the Magnus/Solar FCBD set aside for the guys there (here at vf.com)- but if you think we'll need more just let me know and I'll increase our order. Since you've so graciously shared us with that group, our plan is to provide free copies to anyone that wants them from that site. The only payment that would be required would be shipping, as follows: 1 copy $2.35 First Class; 2-3 copies $3.35 First Class; 4-5 copies $5.25 Priority. We would like to limit the quantity of free comics to 5, since we are (at best) breaking even on this deal. The comics would come bagged and boarded and NM or better condition.
Here are the international shipping rates from horizon on the FCBD offer.
5 copies International is no problem. For Canada & Mexico the cost is $3.95 for the first comic and 75 cents each additional ($6.95 for 5 copies). For overseas it would be $9 FC for 1 copy, $11.00 FC for 2 copies, or 3-5 copies for $13.00 PMI.

I'm glad you asked this, as I'm sure others have the same question. You'll just need to email horizoncomics now and let them know you want two copies. They'll then send you a Paypal invoice.Crow331 wrote:Just to clarify, early in this post I said that I "would take two" ... is someone getting two for me or are we ordering our own now? I wasn't sure how this was all going. Just making sure so I don't double up my order

The thing is, I bring home comics from the library every day. It's pretty easy for a parent to do both.daydreamscomics wrote:i
As a retailer who participates in FCBD, I see both sides of the coin
1) There are a lot of people who come in, grab their free stuff, and walk right back out the door, never to be seen again. Often they have kids with them. They use FCBD as a way to give their kid something, but not have to pay for it. Which does rub me the wrong way, because if comics are something your child is interested in, you as a parent should be willing to do whatever it takes to positively reinforce your child's interest in reading. It's better to have a kid reading and using their imagination than having them sit in front of a tv or playing video games all day.
For the record, I am only buying Blackest Night titles from my local shop, BECAUSE they had FCBD and they had the guts to (re) start a shop in this town. I don't want them to go under, so I am buying books for the first time in about ten years.

Thanks,

I'm very surprised to hear that, Slym. These guys are top-notch, with a feedback of almost 40,000 and 100% positive. Maybe they're at a show.slym2none wrote:I sent an e-mail Thursday, and have yet to receive a response...

I'd just send them another and if you don't hear back from them let me know.
I'm surprised by this. I guess you live and learn. I've got anyone's back on this as well in case these guys don't come through for any board member who took these guys up on their offer.Tim wrote:Screw 'em. I'll send you a couple when I get them from Mailordercomics.slym2none wrote:They must not like my e-mail (or know me by name) because I haven't received one response.
It's no big, as I can actually use the $5 for better things now...
