Is anyone near Charlottesville?Brother J wrote:Hopefully someone will encounter Shooter sometime soon to prove or disprove this "Shooter won't sign Valiant" rumor. Personally, I think it's a lot of bunk.

I could see how Jim Shooter might refuse to sign the three VEI hardcovers,
but everything else that is Shooter's Valiant was nearly 20 years ago...
so I'm not sure he would consider those VEI-related.
So, apart from maybe three books... I don't see why he wouldn't sign Valiant.
That said, I also wouldn't be surprised if he still happily signs the three VEI hardcovers.

I agree, he certainly didn't strike me as the type that would refuse his fans any reasonable request. I'm sure he's still proud of the work he did for VEI, even if the end left a bad taste in his mouth.greg wrote:Is anyone near Charlottesville?Brother J wrote:Hopefully someone will encounter Shooter sometime soon to prove or disprove this "Shooter won't sign Valiant" rumor. Per the auction listing:maraxusofkeld wrote:The buy it now on the auction needs to be lowered as it is utterly delusional with the current state of the non sig series book. It's not going to add $1,100 in value.
Yes, the price is high, but for an SS book with only 6 on the census, I think it's reasonable and, frankly, I'm not interested in selling for much less. But, feel free to make an offer!

The auction doesn't say "Jim Shooter won't sign Valiant books anymore." It never did. The auction implies that, because VEI was suing Shooter (and trying to track him down to serve him) he would be going underground for a while...which he did...thus making his sig harder to get. Now that the suit is dropped, he'll be making appearances.Brother J wrote:Hopefully someone will encounter Shooter sometime soon to prove or disprove this "Shooter won't sign Valiant" rumor. That's the gist of it, as far as I can tell...

How long was Shooter going to be "going underground" considering Dark Horse was going full steam ahead with their Gold Key publishing plans? I don't think Shooter's autograph is ever going to prove to be difficult to find. Look, I have no problem with someone using hype to promote interest in their auctions, but that's clearly what it was.slym2none wrote:The auction doesn't say "Jim Shooter won't sign Valiant books anymore." EDIT: because I was wrong about what I thought the first auction of this book said.
