ACII is so much better than the first one. The first is still great though.Escaflown4 wrote:I know I'm a little late with this, but I started playing Assassin's Creed. As I wasn't too impressed by the 1st (apart from graphics-wise).

The story is a lot more in depth and you get a lot of different sidequests like assassination missions, time trial races and beating down adulterous husbands (yeah, random)ian_house wrote:Is there ALOT more to do?Drift wrote:ACII is so much better than the first one. The flag collection is streamlined from 4 or 5 100 flag collections to a single 100 feather collection keeping the assassins' eagle motif going.
You also earn money in this one to rebuild your HQ town which in turn earns you more money so you can buy more weapons and armour.
You also get more to do as Desmond than you did in the first one.
One of the things I found cool was Subject 17's hacked glyphs which are located on major landmarks. They detail a global conspiracy surrounding a well known event from history but the story is broken down into 20 pieces. To access them you have to complete a series of puzzles and the more you find and complete the more you find out about the Templars' involvement in the event.

Just did finished another play through where I used the wrap zone in 1-2 to get to world 4-1 with most of my 100 lives left...and that got me all the way to 5-2!!! LOLxodacia81 wrote:6 lives? Game Genies? What is this "Lost Levels Mario" you speak of? I don't recall hearing of it. I don't recall wasting hours of my life trying to get past that fireball. I don't think I ever had trouble with that one koopa troopa and the pit. Nope. I don't recall it.Chiclo wrote:DUDE!Todd Luck wrote:I downloaded Super Mario "The Lost Levels": the Japanese version of Super Mario 2, which translated into English means "Mario game that will kick your a**." I did a trick to get around 100 lives in level 1-1 and I'm on 4-1 now and I've got like 6 left. I can see why they thought it was too difficult to release in the USA back in the day.
Still chippiing away on WiiSports (on level 19 of 20 on swordplay showdown!).
That was included in the Super Mario All-Stars for SNES and I always started that b*tch with the Game Genie and it still kicked my shiny white behind.
I'll try using Luigi next but I think I've met my match on this one.
Dabbling at Darksiders and am now STUCK. I have cleared this castle and now it is just down to finding the boss. I walk aroun clueless and then just turn my system off. I mean how hard is it to find 'the boss'.
I bought Mass Effect for $9.00 and the gameguide for $4.50 (along with the Dragon Age guide) But I just looked into GameStop to find out that Mass Effect 2 is either out now or will be soon. Seeing as MA2 is supposed to have fixed A LOT of the issues that the first game had, kinda makes me want to skip it. But there is just so much talking going on in this game, I feel that even with the guide it will take me forever. Same way with Fallout 3, got the game and the guide but it is just too slow.
I think I have screwed up Bioshock as when I play I have stopped seeing Little Sisters. Big Daddy's are in abundance but I never find the Sisters.
I think I will be able to take off early today, I have one chore to do in the house and then I will sit down and lay waste to NYC in [Prototype].
I guess that I am just waiting out for God of War III and Dante's Inferno... well, I SHOULD be working on Modern Combat 2.

OK, I went in a totally different direction last night in regards to what I am going to play.
I downloaded 'Shadow Complex' from Xbox Live Arcade... men, if you have a 360, the internet collection and be able to afford something around $12.00 (if my memory serves me well), BUY Shadow Complex... this could have been a full priced game or at least a $39.99 game.
But I pulled out Burnout Paradise, played it and LOVED it, bonus was a 1.9gig update which fine tunes a load of stuff and has graphic advances as well. I remember playing the game and not winning a thing. Last night I was on a roll, totally wiping out cars and winning cards. One of THE greatest freebie downloads is the addition of MOTORCYCLES !!
I am seriously thinking about adding the 'Big Surf Island' to the game. Criterion has garnered me as a fan for a long time now. The racing is not a precise as Grand Turismo or any of the PGR games, this came is about all out speed and taking out your opponents and getting to the finish line first. ALSO, there are billboards to destroy, super and mega jumps to find and try, AND a police/criminal sets of races as well.
Oh yeah, and the motorcycles... a total blast. A weird thing about Burnout Paradise is the lack of an actual driver in the car (which I think has been fixed with mirrored or VIP dark glass but they made sure to have riders on the bikes. It was kinda weird driving a vehicle with out a driver.
But there are even more DLC to go and grab... I just bought a 'hover car'... it does not fly but it DOES cruise around over cars (and people if any were populated within the game). I would LOVE to take on anybody I knew while racing. One of the great things about Paradise City (a VERY cheap used game at Game Stop OR as a 'games on demand' function on Xbox LIVE (along with MANY other games for download, like Gears of War, Bad Company and Dead Space just to name a few, but be wary, these are normally a HUGE download so I suggest the 120 gig hard drive as I have)
Paradise City ROCKS...

Even though I have to swap to my old 20 gig hard drive on my 360 but I am REALLY turning to older regular Xbox games that I didn't have finished by the time I bought my 360, still wanting games like:
Ultimate Spider-Man
The Punisher
Oddworld Stranger's Wraith (which I can't play because it is NOT backwards compatible)
The Bard's Tale (incredibly funny, I mean REALLY funny)
Godzilla Save the Earth
Predator: Concrete Jungle
D&D Heroes
D&D Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance (looking for DA2)
ROGUE freakin' TROOPER
Lords of the Rings: Return of the King and The Third Age
Crimson Skies
ATV2 Quad Power Racing (JUST about as good as Pure)
(the following games are in 720p !!)
Justice League Heroes
Fantastic Four
Batman Begins
Man, THAT is a lot of games but I think they are good QUALITY games that I had a lot of fun with.
I am contemplating on trying to buy a CHEAP regular Xbox JUST to play Oddworld Stranger's Wrath !!!
Microsoft wants me to return my hard drive to them to fix the 'error' but I am just not that trust worthy. My luck they would wipe my 120 gig losing everything. I am sure that I 'format disc' would work but I have a lot of time spent with it and don't want to lose anything. I have my most of my saves placed on my 525 meg USB memory stick for the 360. When you get a 360 that WORKS, well you don't even look at it. Odd thing with my current Xbox 360. I have wanted my son to play some co-op games with me and I am cool with it but we tried TWICE and the events were two weeks apart. The first time we sat down to play, I got the RRD... he left the room, the system worked great. Two weeks later, he came in again to play and BOOM another round of the RRD. The boy is a jinx for my 360.
Now that there are a slew of good games coming out:

Just finished Bayonetta (weird Japanese action game like Devil May Cry ... better than DMC but you have to like that sort of thing to appreciate it). and Army of 2: 40th Day.
40th Day fixed a few things and made the combat better but that game really tries to make you feel like crap for doing the right thing (there are a few "moral choices" in the game). Still, I beat it in about five hours so I think I'll play it again and make all the bad choices and see how it works.

I think it steers you toward being a heartless mercenary even if you don't want to play that way. It's the most interesting thing about the game.ian_house wrote:Are you meant to be bad then?depluto wrote:40th Day fixed a few things and made the combat better but that game really tries to make you feel like crap for doing the right thing (there are a few "moral choices" in the game).

I have about had it with these 'decision making points' in games these days. It is just a gimmick but to counter that, it does make for a higher replay percentage, but there have been few games (uh that I have finished) that I would WANT to play a second time as it is time I could be spending on the other games that I have that are stacking up.
I don't want a rail game but I don't like a massive sprawl to explore. I don't want to walk all 200 square kilometers of the game. I am having a hard time having 'fun' in games here for about two months now. Oddly enough, I pulled out Burnout: Paradise City... it had a whole 1.9 gigs of updates AND the ability to enter 'Big Surf City' which added a few new cars, races, jumps etc. And then you add in the 'free motorcycles' that was another free download a while back and you have this huge place in which to conduct races, stunt runs, road rage events and more. Winning certain events may award you with a new vehicle OR announce that a new vehicle 'has been seen cruising the streets' so if you find it and 'take it down' it will be available to you in the junkyard. Choose it from the interface at the junkyard, then go get it fixed (choose your paint, design and believe me the cars/bikes/dune buggies look SWEET) or then take it to a paint shop where they improve on what you have already done and then cruise the streets.
The game is just FUN and has had me playing it for a week now along with Shadow Complex which is a Xbox Live Arcade game built off the Unreal engine and is just an fun sideways scrolling button masher but it is a DEEP game within a massive environment. What makes things even better, later in the game you may find an underwater breather unit, well NOW you can go way far back in the game and uncover different areas that were not available to you before because you couldnt breath underwater. Unbelieveable for a downloadable game on Arcade.
But I am finding myself hard myself being entertained by games right now. Will I REALLY like Dante's Inferno when it comes out ? Yeah, probably for the first two weeks. Will I like God of War III, yeah probably for a month. Add onto the fact that I have games like Crackdown that I want to finish before the upcoming Crackdown 2, I am now sitting on both versions of Assassin's Creed and I am further in AC2 than I am in AC. Oh and don't forget Mass Effect, I am not sure if I should reserve it or not. The first game got great reviews but had a few flaws and here I sit on my first off world adventure... STUCK. Can't get past there few robots to find this chick who is an archeologist (sp). It is the third time I have bought this game (got this one for $8.00) and would 'like' to finish it before the new one comes out... bottom line, it aint gonna happen and I have SEEN how beautiful MA2 looks. I don't like the first one so much because of all the damn dialoge, the new MA2 is more focused on third person shooter, lots more action and AI that is really smart OH DID I MENTION THAT I HAVE NOT TOUCHED DEAD SPACE IN OVER SIX MONTHS.... hehehehe.
I think that I will buy some of the new games when they come out (which are normally sequals) and really put my nose to the grindstone and finish up the first game so I can flow right into the next game OR do I go to another older game to finish that up and once they are all done, start into the new games.
Why can't the new games wait ? Well if you 'pre-order' you get some cool stuff, or there is some item or 'free stuff' that will possibly be worth the pre-order.
It sure is a good thing that my Christmas gifts were 75% gift cards to Game Stop.

I am playing Burnout: Paradise City like CRAZY... with a 1.9 gig update and the option to purchase 'Big Surf City'... dune buggies !!!!! I can't get enough and it is not really a driving simulator (I recently picked up on the cheap Forza 2 and PGR 2 or 3 I dunno, these are just too hard).
Good times.

Yeah and that is after the previous motorcycle add on. I can't remember if it was free or not though, but I believe that when it came out for download, it was free.superman-prime wrote:2 gig update WOW
And the cars/vehicles are beautiful... great paint jobs, they handle VERY well and it is just FUN. Even silly tasks like taking down billboards or finding the numerous vehicular shortcuts and super jumps, mega jumps.
I remember one of the critiques of the game was that when the cars crashed or were driving around there was no driver... SO, when the motorcycles came out, there was a driver on the bikes but ANY wipeout or take down, all you see is the motorcycle or car getting trashed. I bet this was done to keep the ESRB rating down.
Ahh, it is just a fun game... even their 'Revenge' game that came out years ago, spectacular crashed, lots of glass, sparks, bending metal, ahhhhhhh music to my ears. hehehe

GOW Collection is driving me nuts. I've got the GOW Plat, but the Challenge of the Titans on GOW II is just killin' me. I wanted to get the platinum on GOW II before starting another title.
Here's another problem. None of my GOW Collection trophies will synch. I perform the synch operation to 100%, but they never appear on my Playstation Network account when I access it online from a PC.
That is to say that the PSN doesn't even recognize that I own GOW or a single trophy from the collection.
I'm worried too, because this was the first and only game I've played since upgrading my hard drive. All of my other trophies ported over to the new drive once I synched up, but new trophies I've acquired have not. I suppose the real test will be to play Bayonetta until I land a trophy, and then see if that game syncs up. If it does, then the problem is with the GOW Collection. If it doesn't, then this is major sucksville.
On another note, if anyone wants to send me a PSN Request or compare trophies or whatnot, I'm starkreality on the network.

I forgot... I played Dark Sector ALL DAY yesterday. This game is now an $8.00 game (NEW !!) but I was jamming on it all day and luvin' it. Not much in the way of achievement points but it was a BLAST.
I think people played it, didnt like the first two levels and several reviews of the game just destroyed it but I am likin' it just fine. There is a zombie section that is VERY much like a Left 4 Dead and whoa was THAT intense, especially when you run out of ammo and all you can do is run and throw the glaive.
Right now I am on a level boss and I have figured out how to beat him but it is a LONG boss battle. I have not beat that boss yet but if I dedicate four or so hours, I should be able to beat him.
If anyone has time, I strongly recommend picking this up for free. It is FUN.

Maybe... the problem is that my level is a bit skewed (lower than it should be) because my GOW Collection Plats aren't registering.depluto wrote:I'm coming after you ... what are you, level 13?IMJ wrote:On another note, if anyone wants to send me a PSN Request or compare trophies or whatnot, I'm starkreality on the network.

Has anyone figured out how they calculate the levels?
That's good, because I don't give a rat's *SQUEE* about Xbox Achievements! And how could you not know what you need? The game's list the trophies for God's sake!Knightt wrote:I really could give a rat's *SQUEE* about trophies... I dunno, I go after achievement points on the 360 but those trophies...
