Scoop's Auction Report = http://scoop.diamondgalleries.com/scoop ... 860&si=123
CBG #1587 has the 4 Valiant tites listed as well:
Harbinger (Pink) 9.8 $345
Solar #1 9.8 $264
X-O Manowar #2 9.8 $153
X-O Manowar (Gold) 9.8 $189
Also, I'm going to add a Valiant section to my website were we can view price changes and future predictions very soon (next 3 months). Is there anyone keeping track of the CGC graded Valiant copies being sold online?

Apparently ComicKings auctions are making headlines with Kevin Smith's website in a negative way. I'm not above paying $50 for a 9.8 X-O Manowar #1

That's from August 2003.whetteon wrote:Apparently ComicKings auctions are making headlines with Kevin Smith's website in a negative way. I'm not above paying $50 for a 9.8 X-O Manowar #1![]()

The author wants to belittle X-O Manowar #1 by talking about
the print runs on books like X-O Manowar #0. Interesting concept.
That's like saying, "I don't like Action Comics #1 because I've got
tons of Action Comics #689 that I can't sell for a dime each."
Needless to say... I don't agree with bad logic.

Yes, but I do agree that books like that selling for hundreds of dollars signals that people are again speculating on Valiant's, which in my honest opinion can only hurt their long term value once again. It should be a buyers market again on Valiants once some of the hoppla dies down. I can't see the current CGC Valiant prices continuing like they are for the next year since there are so many high grade copies out there.greg wrote:That's from August 2003.whetteon wrote:Apparently ComicKings auctions are making headlines with Kevin Smith's website in a negative way. Lest we forget that these books were jumping up to $10-50 dollars in some cases only months after being released so a large population of these books went straight into Mylar.
In looking at my own collection I would say that 80% to 90% of my Pre Unity and Unity Valiant's are in 9.6 or high condition. This isn't a knock on Comickings, heck I think he is smart striking while the iron is hot. If I was looking to make money I'd slab a bunch of low print run Valiant's and throw them on Ebay as well.

Good point KyrptoniteComics. The industry is indeed heating up and I'm at a cross-road to pay $100 for a comic that's ten years old or $100 for some bronze and silver age keys. I think I'll start picking the silver and bronze age keys and wait till the 1,000's of "rare" issues surface because of recent price hikes and get them for bottom bucket prices!

I guess I'm disagreeing with the example used, not the point being made.
CGC 9.8 X-O Manowar #1 selling for $83 is not exactly criminal.
The book is about $10, the CGC grading (and shipping to/from) is $20...
So if you submit the book yourself,
it's going to be $30 for CGC 9.4, $30 for CGC 9.6, and $30 for CGC 9.8.
If you're buying the book from someone else, already graded...
why wouldn't the CGC 9.8's sell for significantly more than $30?
I don't believe exorbitant prices will be sustained...
but this particular example isn't exorbitant, if you ask me.
(But $300 for CGC 9.8 Solar #11 WOULD be, if you're wondering.)
