Im not sold on all of the Acclaim titles.. the only titles Im holding on to now are Shadowman and Quantum and Wood.... and a few other issues here and there.

HELP!!!

Ok, so here is my dilemma..

Im looking at binding the Magnus Book 2.. but Im having some difficulty.

At the end of Chaos Effect, Magnus is sent back to the 90's and spends some time with the Harbinger kids. Most of his time is spend in Chaos Effect Epilogue 1 and 2.. and a bit in Harbinger 36? This is my question, if anyone should know.. in what title is Magnus sent BACK to the future so that he shows up in Magnus #43.

It looks like he pops through a Solar or Timewalker time portal hole.. I couldnt find this in the Solar books.. I guess I can check Timewalker.. anyone else know??

Acclaim Bloodshot is quite good actually. I think next to Acclaim X-O it was my next favorite.

The series takes a little while to come into it's own, but even at it's best it is not nearly as good as the Valiant concept (at least the first 30 issues or so that is).

shadowman 17 and 18 has alot of archer and armstrong in it.
Its a serial number contest issue ~ I don't know what happens in a and a arround the same time.

I cannot remember this story arc. Please let us know wht you think so we can modify the mapping of A&A if the story seems relative tot he A&A characters or story line at that time.

Hey guys.. Im trying to take care of the Malev War book for Magnus and Rai.

Based on the map, the Malev War takes up 30 issues.. see:

Book 2 - The Malev War (This is a BIG ONE! -- 1080 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 21 - 24
Rai and the Future Force(RFF) 9, 25, RFF 10 - 11, 26 - 29, RFF15, 30, RFF 16, 31, RFF 17, 32 - 33, RFF 18, 34, RFF19, 35, RFF 20, 36, RFF 21, 37, RFF 22 - 23, 38

Notice that the only Rai issues that it is missing are issues: 12, 13 & 14.

If I add those 3 issues then it turns into a 33 issues monstrosity! BUT.. then its a Magnus book AND a Rai book.. no need to have two books made.

Anyone ever done a 33 issue monster bind?

I plan on taking out the ads, if I can, and the back covers. And I dont THINK there are any other special books that need to be added.

Anyone? Bueller?

I've done HUGE books before -- Marvel John Carter of Mars (28 regular issues and 3 double size annuals). I did take off back covers and ads whenever possible. It does work and the gutter loss wasn't bad (but those were 70s comics, not 90s comics). And the complete Death and Return of Superman (closer to 45 books). Gutter loss a bit more noticeable on that on. And that book had every back cover and ad possible removed.

Those sizes makes great volumes though.

Steve, you mentioned that there is a difference between 70's and 90's books. What are you referencing? That 90's books are thinner? Or that the art is placed differently? LMK

Thanks for the encouragement. I dont see why I shouldnt do this.. with only 4 books more, I could have both entire stories. They are so entwined anyways.

There are a couple of main differences I see between 70s and 90s comics:

1. The art in 70s comics always has white borders around the panels. 90s comics have quite a lot of full bleed pages and no borders. This affects gutter loss quite a bit.

2. Comics in the 90s, especially the DCs I have tended to group ads together on the same signature. So when I tried to remove ads in my Death of Superman book, I was able to pull eight ad pages without ever worrying about losing a page of art. In the John Carter book, Marvel rarely had ads on the same pages of a signature, so I wasn't able to remove much of anything. Binding 45 issues of 26 page books is nicer than 35 issues of 34 page books.

3. Lastly, the newer paper is thinner than newsprint. That affects the thickness of the bind as well.

Well, my take was pretty different. I decided to totally combine the Magnus, Rai, and Psi-Lords series into the same books. I'm all about the story and willing to mix up the titles some to only need one copy of each book for the binding of them.

My map for this 4001 AD complete crossover came out as follows:

Book 1: Original MRF 1, MRF & Nexus 1-2, Vintage MRF 1-4, MRF YB1, MRF 0-4, MRF/Rai flipbook 5-8, MRF 9-11, Predator vs. MRF 1-2, MRF 12-14, RAI 1-5 (30 issues)

Book 2: MRF 15, RAI 6, MRF 16, RAI 7-8, MRF 17-24, RFF 9, MRF 25, RFF 10-11, MRF 26-29, RFF 12-15, MRF 30, RFF 16, MRF 31, RFF 17, MRF 32-33, RFF 18 (32 issues)

Book 3: MRF 34, RFF 19, MRF 35, RFF 20, MRF 36, RFF 21, MRF 37, RFF 22-23, MRF 38-39, PSI 1-3, MRF 40, RAI 24-26, MRF 41, Chaos Effect Omega, CE Ep1-2, MRF 42, RAI 27-30, MRF 43-46 (31 issues)

Book 4: PSI 4-7, Destroyer 0, PSI 8-10, MRF 47-48, RAI 31-33, MRF 49-64 (29 issues)

Total of 122 issues. It could also be broken out into 5 smaller books instead of 4 BIG books by placing the volume break points after MRF 14 for the end of book 1 (w/25 issues); after MRF 29 for end of book 2 (w/26 issues); after PSI 3 for end of book 3 (w/25 issues); after PSI 10 for the end of book 4 (w/25 issues); and finally after MRF 64 obviously for the end of book 5 (w/21 issues).

This is my plan at least, once I finish getting the few issues I need still and have a stable permanent job with money to spare for binding stuff. On the bright side, at least they have a Valiant spine decal which they didn't have a year or two ago when I first started thinking about binding my comics. I guess some good things do come to those who (are forced to) wait!

He is in Harby 37 for a few pages as well. The return port in Magnus when he comes back looks more like something from SOlar than Timewalker. I guess we just have to guess as to how he comes back?
