Knightt wrote:The Hobbit novel, well rather... "The Hobbit or There and Back Again is the only book in which I have read four times.

I read The Lord of the Rings only twice, I couldn't read it any longer than that as the Fellowship of the Ring makes me contemplate suicide... that damn party for Bilbo goes on FOREVER, man !!! I am thinking, lets get to some 'fightin' and f@ckin' and not necessarily in that order !!! But once you get to The Two Towers and Return of the King, it is just EPIC and other than the Bible, my most favorite books EVER. In fact, at least in the 20th Century, the Bible was the most read book in the world with The Lord of the Rings coming in at second place. No joke.

I am thinking, I must go get this Hobbit game... it MUST be cheap huh ? And we are talking a game that will play on the PS3 backwards compatibility mode ? This was a PS One or PS2 game ? I know the EA games made from the movie were simply outstanding !!!

You think Game Stop would have copies of this game ?
Its the meeting of Elrond (I think) that REALLY drags for me in the first book. Its the first time your introduced to the fellowship and there are alot of characters chatting for A LONG time.

Great book though, I did prefer LOTR to the Hobbit. But it could be because I've read them in that order and only read the hobbit once and LOTR a few times.

Although neither are my favourite books ever, don't think they'd make my top 5.

That's a great price, Chris. You can definitely overlook some of the downfalls of the game for a price like that. Hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did.

I think that you are right... and it is a good thing I did not get it for my 360 as it is not backward compatible.

Picked up Sins of a Solar Empire (PC) for $20 to tide me over until MW2 and I have really enjoyed that game. There is a ton of stuff to consider and a ton of ways to dominate your enemy. The strategy required is far more advanced than most RTS's that I've played. Space battles with a few hundred ships is insane, especially when you're in the middle of a battle and pirates come knocking on your door and you have to quickly divide your fleet or dispatch a new one if you're lucky.

2 more days until MW2.

Playing Lego Indiana Jones on the Wii.

Not quite as fun as Lego Star Wars and I don't really care for the whip Indy uses. It's useful in some instances, but as your main weapon it really bites. Most of the villains kill you fairly easily while your busy cracking your whip on them. The puzzles are fun though and they still have the comedic element of the past Lego games so it's not too bad (especially for 10 bucks).

My copy of The Hobbit for the PS2 arrived yesterday and to be honest, I really enjoy how relaxing it is and how nice the graphics are. It looks nice for it's 2003 time frame and is just very relaxing AND to be going over the book of The Hobbit... I am pleased.

Yay!

Glad you like it, I was surprised at the graphics as well (some of the cut scenes are incredible). I would definitely like to see them do a follow up. Just imagine what they could do with next gen graphics.

With The Hobbit coming out as a movie in the near future by Alan Jackson (yay), you can bet that there will be a game attached to it AND it will be pretty good.

That is PETER Jackson (what, ya didn't think someone wouldn't bust yer balls over that? ) and he's only producing/co-writing, this time. The directing duties on the two films-yep, it's being split into two parts-will be handled by Guillermo del Toro, who also did Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy films, among many other nifty flicks. So far, confirmed cast members are Andy Serkis, Ian McKellan and Hugo Weaving. Ron Perlman is supposedly going to get a part. Rumor has him being cast as Bard.

Yep, you are correct... Alan Jackson is a country singer. Sorry about that.

The cast lineup is looking good. Andy Serkis is the bomb, he was even IN a PS3 game 'Heavenly Sword' and he was great in that as well.

Serkis is one strange, but multitalented, actor. I haven't seen a single role of his where I went "he sucked".

Modern Warfare 2 really kickded my but today, so much so that I just stopped playing. As I feared it is an incredibly tough and just WAY too fast to keep up with what is going on. I am afraid I am going to crank the difficulty down a notch, so I can make the game enjoyable for me.

I felt lucky to get two stars so far in Special Ops mode but man, this is a pretty tough fast moving game. I bet a few guys playing together would be pretty fun as long as someone knew the map; and could guide me through parts. As it is I am being outflanked on three different flanks and the claymores only go so far. So, I relaxed with Bioshock and Dragon Age Origins, just to slow things down.

TOO much is coming out... it will come to the point where I will just say 'no' to anything coming out so I have a chance to finish 'some' games. I hear Dragon Age can go up to 150 hours !!!

I've been playing co-op with my kid, but half the time he goes charging off like Leeroy Jenkins. You have to go slow and steady. We've got 19 stars so far.

I'm almost done with the single player (just finished the airplane graveyard level). This is maybe the best game ever for "Oh *SQUEE*!" moments.
