I agree, and that will absolutely happen. For sure there are many more out there than what is graded to date. A friend of mine has four. All perfect copies!! At least three of them will grade out at 9.8. One has a small shred on the upper left corner. Small print run yes, but compared to what is graded today there are plenty more that will get the highest grade. I'll wait!Chuck wrote:IMO Harby #1 CGC'd 9.8 will settle at around 200 bucks if the trend of new 9.8s keep popping up.

What would you say is a good price for a Harbinger #0 in a CGC 9.8? Pink with card I just turned down a copy for $220.00 Just couldn't do it.Daniel Jackson wrote:I suppose if more and more keep showing up for sale that might be the case, but I would be surprised to see them selling for that anytime soon.Chuck wrote:IMO Harby #1 CGC'd 9.8 will settle at around 200 bucks if the trend of new 9.8s keep popping up.
I hope you're right though, I might even break down and buy one for that....

Right on. Thanks, glad I went with my gut on that. I offered $130.00 but they turned it down. That's okay.Draco wrote:puffdoggy wrote:What would you say is a good price for a Harbinger #0 in a CGC 9.8? Yeah I'll just have to pick them up as I go. I still need many more 9.8's though. I could definately use a few 9.8 magnus 12's and Solar 10's. I'm doing good with magnus other issues though. That Solar 10 in 9.8 has to still be tough. That's one hard book to keep perfect. Even the new copy I got off the rack had a small flake of black completely gone when I got it. A tiny white spot right in the middle of the book. Last copy available at the place I was buying. Figures!! Now the problem is probably spine stress. My second print copy was perfect though. I found another perfect 1st print shortly thereafter for $40.00 and was thrilled to get it. It's now in a friend of mine's collection. I'll keep working on it though as time goes.Draco wrote:All the old school keys that used to be mad in 9.8 are all available cheaper now, well nearly all of them.puffdoggy wrote:Now that I could handle......maybe I'd buy two
I mean by keys, Magnus 12, Unity red, Harby pink etc etc.

Yeah, spine stress on the Solar #10 books is pretty common.puffdoggy wrote:Yeah I'll just have to pick them up as I go. I still need many more 9.8's though. It would be wise to temper comments about "perfect" books that are not in slabs. Especially when it comes to H1, many of us have submitted "perfect" copies that came back in 8.5 slabs.puffdoggy wrote:I agree, and that will absolutely happen.

Yeah I hear ya. It's sometimes surprising what exactly downgrades a book. could be a multitude of things. I've been collecting since '75 though and I don't use the term lightly. I'll let you know how they turn out. I'm hoping to convince him to have them graded soon. These babies are perfect. Staples, corners, spine, colors, pages, I've looked at them maybe seven or eight times, I just can't find a flaw. Maybe there's something I'm missing but I doubt it. Neither of us have actually ever even touched them with our fingers. Always with the gloves. He turns the pages with a stick. Very carefully. I'm saying 9.8 is a lock. But we'll see. 9.8 is tough to obtain, I hear you loud and clear though.ckb wrote:It would be wise to temper comments about "perfect" books that are not in slabs. Here is a classic example of a key selling for a low price, bought by a board member here.Draco wrote:Im trying to access my memoery as we type, but i think one sold for under $100 in recent months.puffdoggy wrote:Right on. Nice purchase. I commend the buyer. Love to pick one up at that price!! I won't buy on e-bay though so I'll just have to keep my eye open for one.Draco wrote:Here is a classic example of a key selling for a low price, bought by a board member here.Draco wrote:Im trying to access my memoery as we type, but i think one sold for under $100 in recent months.puffdoggy wrote:Right on. Sure if the original print run was 1,000 copies maybe, but for something like HArbinger # 1, you just never know when a warehouse find of say 50 uncirculated copies will pop up.
If they can still find Silver and Bronze in warehouses untouched ill be surprised if thats not the case again with books just like this.
