Why are there so few Valiant Sig Series?
Checking through the census there is on an average of 5-10 copies of each of the Valiant Key Issues, and I don't mean 5-10 per grade, but total amount of copies if I include grades 9.4 and above.
Lack of interest? Rarity? Now with everything going on with VEI and Shooter it may become more difficult to get.
My ultimate goal is to get every copy key in 9.6 or above signed. Nearly complete with Pre Unity #1s.
Just missed out on a Rai #0 SS 9.6 on ebay
I just figured most of the Valiant fans would be all over this.

There are 3 SS copies in 9.6 and 2 SS copies in 9.8 = 5 total copies (I own 1 of them)
The pattern is similar for each of the other key issues.
Harbinger #1 seemed to be the more plentiful (5 in 9.4 and 6 in 9.8 for 11 total)
Just curious why there arent more floating out there

Are you thinking Jim might stop signing Valiant books or something? I don't think Jim would do that, he seems to be very fan-friendly.drakeprimeone wrote: Now with everything going on with VEI and Shooter it may become more difficult to get.

The lack of CGC Signature Series books is very interesting.
As someone who spends a lot of time watching the market and talking to retailers, there are still an awful lot of folks who don't perceive either the monetary value or the story value we collectively have attached to the pre-Unity and late original Valiant comics.
To be fair, these are often folks who got stuck with tons of Valiant stock as the market cratered. Not all of these people were the dreaded speculators. Sometimes they were just retailers who didn't adjust their ordering habbits quickly enough.
Whatever the reason, they have a lot of the comics that even people around this book don't care a whole lot about and they perceive them as not even worth the time to move them out.
For those guys, it's hard to tell them that Valiant comics -- even ones they don't have -- are worth anything. If you will allow a plug here, that's why it's always good to make Scoop or The Oversreet Comic Book Price Guide aware of any higher dollar value transactions. Information is king.
So, I think those attitudes, and the fact that SO many of these books spent time in the quarter and 50-cent bins, so the rarity of 9.4s and up is real...
That's my two cents for now.
