I might have to hit that up, I live about 30 miles away, but dont get too excited the con isnt super super great. I've been to others, it is ok for around here but dont expect like a real super amount of back issues, etc.

Just hit up a comic store in Lancaster not that long ago. Pretty nice shop, the owner looks like commissioner gordon though :thumb:

I was just there also, the problem with them is, they have real back issues but never have them out to buy. If you ask for stuff, they just say send us an email with a want list, instead of looking at the store.

But, the difference is that 175 miles in Texas is like 350 miles in most other places or...is it that it's more like going "around the corner"? :hm:

It's the second major town to the south. TKW's old stomping grounds.

Still in the same area code. A bit more than around the corner, but still in the general neighbourhood.

I hate that *SQUEE*! When I go back issue shopping, I mainly am looking for deals, not necessarily books off a want list. If they have the books out and available to look through, it's very likely I'll find a book that has a cool cover that catches my eye or a book that I've heard good things about but never tried before and I'll want to buy it. Instead these stupid shops would rather I bring in a list of books that 99 times out of 100 they won't have because the books are some obscure variant, which is most of what is on my "want list".

Yeah my buddy and I go in the store looking to spend real money, not a hi, hello, *SQUEE* you from anyone. You'd think you would chat up some new customers looking to buy expensive books.

Not to get anyone's hopes up but two highlights from past Scranton cons are quarter bin pulls of X-O Manowar #68 and Miracleman #24.

Comics on the Green will be there (one of the best comic stores I've ever been to) and I'm assuming the Encounter will be there with TONS of $1 bins of very recent books.

As for creators, I've seen Walt & Louise Simonson there in the past but I don't think they're on the list for this year. Confirmed guests are Scott Beatty, Dan Parent, Dawn Best and more.

It's certainly not on the same level as a NYCC but I'm looking forward to it. And it's only $1 admission (take that $40 Wizardworld con)!

Comics on the Green is a great great store, Dave is one of the best guys I've ever talked too. His store is worth checking out and if you dont live close he has an Ebay store under the same name. He doesnt have that great of stuff on there as he saves that stuff for the store, but you can email him with want lists and he is really great about getting back to and giving you a good price.

Allow me to second that. If you're ever in the Scranton area, do yourself a favor and stop by his store. Great selection and a super nice guy to deal with.

I made it as far as Jim Thorpe, PA (which I see by doing a Mapquest is still over 50 miles away) :P

Great place, but way too many tourists this time of year. Beautiful scenery, though.

of course not...

My wife and I celebrated our 10th anniversary the weekend before and wanted to go to Jim Thorpe then, but the weather was poor for outdoor stuff, so we went yesterday instead. Since I had no intention of going to this show, I had forgotten it was this weekend, but there was no way I would have driven that much farther north to go to a small show, anyway.
