Got Ghostbusters for Wii from Gamefly and played it last night. Blew through a third of the game in a few hours. In one word..awesome.
This is what a cross platform licensed game should be. It's very easy and seems short. Even finding all the scans and hidden pages of Tobin's spirit guide is a snap (I only had to check a FAQ to find 2 out of 65 so far). But what you're really playing for is the music, story (which is very funny), the ghostbusting gameplay (which is awesome with the Wiimote) and the clever, crazy stuff they throw at you. Lots of throw back stuff from the first movie so far but it really, really works (and who can argue with Slimer and Stay Puff?).

There was one point in that game where I followed a ghost down a dead end path. When I turned around he was standing right behind me, and I literally screamed. Scared the living hell out of me.seymoregutz wrote:well' folks....i did it. i have almost gone thru the second section...i had to break down and find a walkthrough to see how to elude the little girl. getting there, i saw someone walking...and i'm shooting at him....my son taps me on the sholder and tells me i can't kill'em.....he's a ghost. lol. my son and i share somewhat different tastes in games..i'm into swords and he's the ops guy. one time i joined him in a game {i forget which one} and he told me not to stray from the group. well, i saw some baddies off the beaten path and went to go polish them off for the group......bad mistake.....i took a headshot....my son laughed. i didn't know the controls, so i am on the lesser difficulty.....now i have them written down, i will start another one on the default setting. yea, i don't mind showing you what a der i can be...it's half the fun. like in parasite eve, when you have to get down into the boiler room to set it to explode, and then having to get out of there as fast as you can with the creature chasing you.....oh, i forgot to mention that you are on a ship when you have to do this......you gotta get off the ship before it blows! man, the rush!!!

Done with ODST (loved it) and Republic Heroes (meh, more Star Wars cartoon stuff). Also played a lot of NBA 10 and NBA 2K10, not much difference between the two.
Now I'm working on Forza 3 (holy crap what an amazing game!) and I have Borderlands lined up after that, maybe some Brutal Legend. A lot of fricking games come out this time of year.

I was digging through some old gamecube games I have and ran across The Hobbit. I remember picking it up in a clearance bin a few years ago for 10 bucks, but never got around to playing it (it was still in the shrinkwrap).
Very cool game and I am surprised at how good it actually is. I was expecting the worst after seeing the awful looking animation on the cover. It even has character voicing in a bunch of spots during the game, which was another surprise. I just finished the troll mine section and I can't believe how huge the level was. The game is fairly straight forward and easy to pick up and play. Not one of the most challenging of games, but still very fun.
Highly recommend picking this one up if you run across it.

Please let me know how Borderlands is... it looks pretty good and I'd like to try it out, so I may rent it.depluto wrote:Done with ODST (loved it) and Republic Heroes (meh, more Star Wars cartoon stuff). Also played a lot of NBA 10 and NBA 2K10, not much difference between the two.

I saw this game advertised the other day and it looks pretty cool. Seems to be getting some very good reviews too.Knightt wrote:

Just finished up The Hobbit last night. Although the game seemed a tad short, it was a very fun game to play. I'm not sure why this one didn't garner much attention when it was released, cause it's definitely a must play if you like Zelda type adventure/quest games.
This would have been an awesome game for the PS3.

What system is this for ?Daniel Jackson wrote:Yeah, I suppose that might it in this case. If I had paid $50 for The Hobbit, I might feel a little differently about it. Well worth the price now though.superman-prime wrote:short ahh for 50 bucks games need to have that replay factor for me hence the love of zelda mario and the game called KART

It's a previous gen game that came out in 2003. I believe it was released on all systems (PS2, GC, Xbox and the PC). Well worth checking out if you run across it for 10 to 20 bucks.Knightt wrote:What system is this for ?Daniel Jackson wrote:Yeah, I suppose that might it in this case. Hah hah... if I recall, if you pre-ordered the game you even got the "Hobbit" novel. Pretty cool bonus, I think.Daniel Jackson wrote:It's a previous gen game that came out in 2003. Yeah, that's a unique promotion. I don't think I've heard of them doing that sort of thing for other games.X-O Dudeowar wrote:Daniel Jackson wrote:Knightt wrote:Hah hah... if I recall, if you pre-ordered the game you even got the "Hobbit" novel. Pretty cool bonus, I think.Daniel Jackson wrote:

The Hobbit novel, well rather... "The Hobbit or There and Back Again is the only book in which I have read four times.
I read The Lord of the Rings only twice, I couldn't read it any longer than that as the Fellowship of the Ring makes me contemplate suicide... that damn party for Bilbo goes on FOREVER, man !!! I am thinking, lets get to some 'fightin' and f@ckin' and not necessarily in that order !!! But once you get to The Two Towers and Return of the King, it is just EPIC and other than the Bible, my most favorite books EVER. In fact, at least in the 20th Century, the Bible was the most read book in the world with The Lord of the Rings coming in at second place. No joke.
I am thinking, I must go get this Hobbit game... it MUST be cheap huh ? And we are talking a game that will play on the PS3 backwards compatibility mode ? This was a PS One or PS2 game ? I know the EA games made from the movie were simply outstanding !!!
You think Game Stop would have copies of this game ?

If you can't find a copy at Game Stop, ebay has a lot of them for cheap right now. Also, make sure your PS3 is backward compatible with PS2 games, because a lot of the consoles they put out are not.Knightt wrote: You think Game Stop would have copies of this game ?

Very nice, this came out on just about all systems eh ? PS2, Xbox, Gamecube... I would imagine that there is PC version as well. There is a PS2 version only at $.99... can't beat that. Which system does anyone prefer it on (I fixed my backwards compatibility issue with my 360... get this, I have to put my old 20 gig hard drive on it to play old Xbox games

I've only played the GC Hobbit, so I don't know which of the versions would be the best or have the most content. I would imagine the PS2 and the Xbox versions are pretty much the same though.Knightt wrote:Oh mine is, my old friend.Daniel Jackson wrote:If you can't find a copy at Game Stop, ebay has a lot of them for cheap right now.
