ETERNAL WARRIOR - Costume question!
I was looking around trying to find an explanation for this, but I was wondering what the significance of some of Eternal Warrior's varied costume accessories means? Namely his left arm with some sort of design on it, and the right hand having a spiked glove? I understand that in his original tribe that he had a tiger's claw, so the modern glove is kind of a throw-back to that. But what about the modern arm of bullets? Is it like how the 80's thrash bands had a "bullet belt?" Lol...
My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I did my darndest to try to find some info.
Thanks!

Even in the far-flung past and on into the future, most of Gilad's costumes involve some sort of pattern like that on the arm. Bullets just happen to look the part in the modern era and fit with the whole eternal warrior thing.
I don't remember at any time it being addressed as to why he had such an arm armour.

El costum-o
Yeah, i've noticed that he's always had that. Maybe it has been just to serve as a shield of sorts. Pretty cool, anyway. Definitely one of the most unique characters in comics in so many ways.
I'm just about to read Eternal Warrior/A&A #8 for the first time this weekend; can't wait to see the introduction of Ivar!

A great story. The best is the end when Aram shows Gilly what is what.

As much as I enjoy my Valiant collection today I wish that I could read these books for the first time again.
Yes, Eternal Warrior is a great title (or at least it started off as great) and I think you’re in for a treat with #8. Also if you like Gilad’s extended family I recommend reading Archer & Armstrong (the early issues are a lot of fun and they were just collected last year in a HC).
Oh, I’ve always wondered why Gilad always had the extra ornamentation on the left sleeve too, but I’ve assumed that the glove went back to the tribal tiger paw. I don’t believe either have been officially explained.
Welcome to the boards by the way.

The covers of Secrets of the Valiant Universe 1 and Eternal Warrior 16 seem to indicate a practical use for the space on his left arm, at least for the jumpsuit.

Nice catch on those covers. I notice that there are times that Gilly uses the leather jacket with the shot gun shells (or maybe they are his Utility Sleeve?? LOL..) and there are other times he has the silvery type of sleeve with the high tech metal allow whip thingy?magnusr wrote:The covers of Secrets of the Valiant Universe 1 and Eternal Warrior 16 seem to indicate a practical use for the space on his left arm, at least for the jumpsuit.

That’s what I actually thought this thread was going to be about when I saw the title.IanAlexavier wrote: Ive always wanted to make a leather jacket with the shot gun shells on it.. it looks pretty neat!

I'm pretty sure the shotgun shells go back to WWII.

Of course the Uzi was introduced in 1954 so....

Historically with most people being right handed (screw you 10% of population, get it right next time.) The left arm was the shield arm. Mainly because it had to stay still, and was't moved as much. Now there are attacks with a shield, but its primary purpose is staying still in front of you. in a lot of cultures they would not cover the right arm in as much armor because you had to move it to swing your sword. The glove does come from the tiger fist, but it is also a modern Kester (SP, Roman boxing glove used by gladiators.)
