Mighty Samson
Just started making my way through Mighty Samson, and I have to say that it is fairly screaming with potential.
In a trade, I picked up a set minus #9, 22, and 32 (and I have already lined up #9 & 22 from a dealer).
While I certainly was familiar with the cover of Mighty Samson #1 and thought I'd read some of it, I hadn't.
While it does have that certain Gold Key clunkiness to it, even with that it's more intelligent that most of what's on the market today. There is some really bad science in it, but the story mechanics are there and, man, seriously, this could be much fun.
Anyone else familiar with it?

That's is why im keen to see not only what is about, but how can they make a character who looks as outdated as you can get and turn it into something 50,000+ readers worldwide will try out.
If they can do that then this whole new GK3 will be made of win !!!

Having read just the first few issues, I figured out immediately what I'd do with the character. I really like the set-up a lot.Draco wrote: Totally unfamiliar with this one dude.

Given that it's Mike Richardson and Jim Shooter, I have no worries that it will be cool.

Absolutey dude.
Had this been attempted by pretty much anyone else i would have been sceptical to be fair, but their track records obviously speak volumes.
Im slowly grabbing mid grade Magnus, Solar & Turok, but have yet to grab a single Samson so far.
Let see what ebay uk has to offer this fine evening then shall we.

Just added #22. Will pick it and #9 up on Thursday. Now just need #32, the Whitman logo, only non-painted cover in the series... horrible!Draco wrote:JCVaughn wrote:Having read just the first few issues, I figured out immediately what I'd do with the character. I can't either.Elveen wrote:JCVaughn wrote:Super-strong righteous barbarian in a nuclear wasteland.Elveen wrote:Never seen it, kinda

So he has to be in a world
by himself. I don't see mag and sol in that envirnoment.
If you want to know what GK Sampson is like, just think Thundarr.

Not soon enough for me, but we'll see.
I recently read the first three issues of Samson and agree that it's better than many of the newer titles on the stands today. I'm not exactly sure how I would have him brought back but I will say that he, as a character, is not very compelling and would be nothing without the world he inhabits.
I took a break and read the first three issues of Dagar and the first two issues of Dr. Spektor (both of which I prefer over Samson so far)

Actually I do see Magnus and Samson in the same environment. Both characters are set in the future and could easily in separate parts of the Earth. Then you could set up a crossover and have a who's stronger and tougher contest. Solar could travel through time and interact with each/both of them as well from time to time.
No doubt Shooter could work Samson in with the other characters if he wanted to.geocarr wrote:Actually I do see Magnus and Samson in the same environment. Well, just speaking as a writer, I would LOVE a shot at Samson now that I'm getting familiar with the character. I think he has a lot to offer, and I suspect there's a lot more to him that we see on the surface. Just like Magnus.Crimebuster Deluxe wrote:JCVaughn wrote:Well, we'll see.Elveen wrote:JCVaughn wrote:Super-strong righteous barbarian in a nuclear wasteland.Elveen wrote:Never seen it, kinda

I agree that the potential is huge for Samson. That's why I voted for Samson in that poll the other day.JCVaughn wrote: Well, just speaking as a writer, I would LOVE a shot at Samson now that I'm getting familiar with the character.
