David Lapham and Young Liars promotion
Okay, I think I've been more than patient about this but I'm really starting to get annoyed. You guys remember when David was trying to get his comic off the ground and he offered to do a head sketch for everyone who sent him a copy of issue #1? Well, I know some here received their comic back with a sketch, but I still have NOT.
I sent mine last August and I've repeatedly e-mailed him and pm'ed him about this. The last one I sent him, I simply asked him to forget about the sketch and just ship mine back to me (in the pre-paid envelope I sent him) and I still haven't heard back from him or received the package.
It's not that I'm out of a lot of money (about $15 including postage), it's just the fact that he won't reply back to my messages or at least just ship mine back to me in the pre-paid envelope I sent him. It's very unprofessional IMO, and I probably won't ever buy anything he ever has his name attached to again.
What should I do?

Not sure in which ways you've tried to connect with him already, so I'll throw out a few ideas.
He does have his own message board:
http://jasonaaron.org/viewforum.php?f=7
If you've tried sending him a private message there, and he hasn't responded, I might just make a post on the board to get his attention.
I also have the e-mail address to his art representative, which might be another way to go. Let me know if you want that.
To be honest, I had quite a few problems with his shipping times when I was buying Plasm pages from him via eBay and I know I wasn't the only one.

Wow, I jumped over there to read it out of morbid curiosity....that just clinched that I will never frequent that board ever!Lightning Strike wrote:Yeah, I'm "spamming" when I ask Lapham about some of MY books that are in his possession.Brother J wrote:I see the fanboys over there have already started to jump on you.Lightning Strike wrote:Thanks. Very. It's not a "DC" board or anything, but it's a group of professionals who have a forum each. It's Jason Aaron's board. All the creators who have a forum read it and respond.magnusr wrote:What gets to me is their ignorant dismissal of the whole thing. It sure does not give a good impression. I havent read any of the boards over there, but on the few times i ventured onto any other boards say like Image, i found the mentality to be somewhat childish.
I did have some creators reply to me, which was cool and i still talk to some of them, but the fanboys were nothing short of sad.
One creator even told them to sort themselves out when they called BS on one of my posts.
As for the David lapham situation itself in terms of no reply, well thats a real shame as David came on and was quite good fun.
Maybe he really was just doing the business thing, but he offered to help do signings of his own back i assume, so he might want to think about not burning this rather large bridge too soon.
If there is nayone here who has contact with him or a way of contacting him other than the routes already known, i think that would be a smart move at this time.
I always like to think that there is a reson for these things when they happen, god knows i have been appaling at making things happen in my own life way to many times to recount, so ill just sit and wait for it to unfold and try to hold judgement.
Im slowly undertstanding the whole "let he or she who has not sinned throw the first stone" thing more and more every year.
Hopefully itll all come good with an apology, a tale of how frustrating it is trying to get your own book published in dire times and we will all live happilly ever after.

Seems to be the case with most forums on the net.Draco wrote:I havent read any of the boards over there, but on the few times i ventured onto any other boards say like Image, i found the mentality to be somewhat childish.
We can hold our heads high and pretend to be superior!!!

I think you are right, but at the same time i genuinley think the guy is a bsuy boy who simply tried to be too helpful here.vikingspawn wrote:An entire year without any update or reply is brutal.
I think its safe to say he had the best of intentions and probably feels pretty bad for not following through.
Im sure we have all been guiltyof similar things, well i know i have

Hopefully there is a lesson to be learned here.
