Print Run Predictions
What are your "Print Run Predictions" for the new line of Gold Key books?
Including the new "Dark Horse Presents" which debut/re-introduce the Gold Key characters again ?
I predict the new line to launch in the 30,000 range with several sell outs and 2nd & 3rd printings to follow.
And then a slow gradual increase as the regular books gain more buzz.
There could be runs in the 100,000 range if they use FCBD for a special issue or a special $.25 cent "Zero" issue to preview the line. (works for Dynamite Comics!)
What's your prediction???

I think you're overly amitious here. I don't think Dynamite has ever put forth a book anywhere near 100K and I'd guess that Buffy would be DH's best seller.
Take a look at the Dark Horse numbers here and then tell me how they'll ever be 100K:

I think it will start at around 20-25K and then decrease little by little over time until cancelled like pretty much all comics.

Re: Print Run Predictions
No, I meant they could print over 100k for FCBD or $.25 special preview issues (like Red Sonja #0 for example). Or even 150k for those promo issues. I know comic sales are down overall with the DC/Marvel titles barely breaking the 90k mark.400yrs wrote:Holy Moley!! 30K-100K?vikingspawn wrote:What are your "Print Run Predictions" for the new line of Gold Key books?

Re: Print Run Predictions
If the books are as good or better than early Valiants the print runs will increase over the course of time. How's that for a prediction?

Very very very uncanny that you should ask that question dude.Elveen wrote:Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it takes to produce 20,000 comic books? Including $$$ for the talent (writers, artists, letters, ect) and the production $$$. NOT counting the distribution and advertisement cost.
I have just been chatting to Val Staples in the last half hour and i bought up this piece he wrote, which he is looking to update possibly.
It really does not leave anything out.
Enjoy.

This is probably the most realistic quote I have seen, only the big 2 have titles approaching 6 figures and I don't think that's gonna change. I would think DH would consider it a success if they could put out 2-3 titles and they sold 25k each.superman-prime wrote:10 k is about it for the start 100k thats dc or marvel only and only 1 or 2 a month

I agree that 100K is awfully ambitious.400yrs wrote:Holy Moley!! 30K-100K?vikingspawn wrote:What are your "Print Run Predictions" for the new line of Gold Key books?

Buffy is consistently Dark Horse's best selling title and is consistently the best-selling title outside the Big 2.
The early Project Superpowers books were above the 100K mark, but after about issue 3 the numbers severely dipped (consistent with delays in publishing, but surely there's no correlation...
