My Collection, sort of...

Post by Blood of Heroes »

So one time I got an old $100 in a stack of money and it made me think.( :hm: ) I hardly ever see the old bills around so I figured that I would hang on to it. I kept my eyes open and over the last few years this is what I've collected. Some of it was found in change, one of the Fives I took out of a guys hand in line in front of me and promptly replaced it with a new $5. He thought I was nuts. Anyways, I found another $5 today. When I added it to the pile I figured I'd take a picture. Then I decided to post it here....for some reason.

Enjoy!

Yes I know the $1s and $2s haven't changed, but the $2 is old(1995) and the $1 I just through in for a sense of symmetry.

Not old, but that is about when our paper money started to get a face lift. I think the oldest in the bunch is 1976. 33 years is a long time for a piece of paper to be in circulation.

And yes Slym, you are old.

I actually think it's pretty cool to have a collection of bills from different years . . . it's just that I have to keep giving mine to the credit card companies . . . :)

I consider this to be an old piece of paper money:

I wonder what prompted the change from Monticello on the back to the signing of the Declaration of Independence?

Perhaps the bi-centennial of 1976. :P

I always wanted a briefcase like Dr. Brown's in Back to the Future II, with money from all time periods.

Sure, but you aren't likely to find that in circulation. I haven't gone out of my way to find these. I just don't spend them when I get one.

I pulled that $2 bill out of the cash register of the store I was working at.

They changed the quarter, half-dollar and dollar coins . . . :?
COINS... I'm talking about bills. This is the only one that has actually changed. The design on the "new" bills might be altered slightly, but it's still the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the five, the White House on the back of the 20, and so on...

:?

-slym (like anyone uses the dollar coins anyways...) :P

Those old $100 dollar bills are a nightmare at Comic Conventions for dealers.

Some are counterfeit... (I don't mean yours.)

They should invest in a few of those counterfeit detection pens.

Boom! Studios would rather take a $100 bill than a $2 bill at a comic show.

And for that, they can still kiss my *SQUEE* even though I am buying Boom comics again.

For those that don't know...I am also a coin collector. In addition to coins I have collected old currency for years and while money issues have forced me to sell off most of the older notes I still have some fractional currency from the 1860's if anyone would like to see images?

Absolutely!

When I was a kid I collected coins. Well, my dad collected them for me. I think they are packed away somewhere. All that old stuff is cool. 1860's is pretty old! :thumb:
