I just bought and DLed 'Burn Zombie Burn' for the PS3... geeez, pretty tough game, but really nice to see them zombies a burnin' LOL BUT it gets tricky, zombies like 'other zombies' and 'stuff' on fire, you could burn yourself up. So there IS some strategy involved... I just dont know what it is yet. LOL

Otherwise, I'm gonna play me some Killzone 2, Devil May Cry 4 and Wolverine Origins... :thumb:

The new Wolverine game is pretty fun. Very violent, with a little bit of platform/puzzling a la Uncharted. Too bad the controls suck for the jumping/climbing but the combat is nice.

Next up I gotta try some Infamous.

One of our very, very good friends got me a Guitar Hero for my B-day.

I just played it for the first time. I can see what the big deal was.

I totally suck.... but it was sure fun.

:thumb:

I also destroyed and dismantled my nephew in Tecmo Bowl for a few games..... good times.

Guitar Hero RAWKS! Rockband as well (drums are alot of fun!). Those games got one of my sons so interested in guitar that he got a guitar awhile back and has been taking lessons for a year or so now. Those games are just fun to play though and addictive as you learn more and get better.

We just got our 360 back from being repaired and currently I'm playing Tenchu Z mostly. My kids don't have the patience to play the ninja game. Waiting and watching the guards patterns of movement isn't their thing. I enjoy making them all disappear one by one though. Good thing their AI isn't smarter though.

My kids are looking forward to getting Mirrors Edge and Halo Wars themselves.

Been working or worn out from working the last few weeks so it's cut into my game playing severally. Still playing Super Punch Out!! on my Super NES. Beat all 12 oppenents in the normal circuits and working on the next to last guy in the Special Circuit. No gameshark needed, just lots of practice. You have to play each opponent dozens of times to get used to them and figure them out but finally beating feels so rewarding. GREAT game.

Found Excitebots for the Wii mislabeled as a $14 game at Walmart and bought it before they figured out the mistake. LOL The most fun I've had with a game in while. Every bit the rush of adrenaline ExciteTruck was with even more cool, crazy stuff added in. Played through the first couple circuits last weekend and got Ss on most of the tracks. I tend to do the best with the frog, bat and spider bots so far. The free online play runs like a dream too. I can't highly recommend this game enough.

Playing a classic Zelda game, Majora's Mask (recently released on the Wii VC). Not as fun as Ocarina of Time and I don't like the lame save feature. Some of the objectives are not very clear and you spend a lot of time running around trying to figure out what they are. I also do not care for the 3 day time limit, then reversing time back to the beginning.

Aside from those few annoyances though, it's a fairly solid game. I would not rank it as high as some of the reviews I've seen for it, but it's worth playing if you're starving for a Zelda fix.

InFamous, Prototype, Kane & Lynch, and next week the new Transformers game (guaranteed to suck but comes with a ticket for the movie - i.e. part of Father's Day present)

Never played any of those... only had a Commodore 64, then Sega Genesis, Sega Gamegear, Nintendo64, Dreamcast, loads of high speed PCs (for about 4 months until they were antiquated), Xbox, Xbox 360, PSP, and finally PS3.

Are these SNES games and such that you guys are talking about ?

Yeah, 'Link to the Past' was originally for the SNES. I would rank it in the top 10 of all time best video games. 'Majora's Mask' was for the N64 and while the graphics are much better, the gameplay is not quite as special.

The SNES games will always hold a special place in my heart. I "grew up" with them. I still play them from time to time. I think some of the finest stories and play in the history of gaming can be found on that system. Link to the Past is a top game. As is Super Metroid. As were the Final Fantasy games on the SNES (ok, not Mystic Quest, but the others). Donkey Kong Country. Star Fox. The list goes on and on. Truly a special system.

Nice !!!

Musta been somethin' though because I remember seeing terrible graphics as my former brother-in-law would play hte $hit out of his SNES. Good story telling is always hard to find... I guess the same was with me and my Commodore64. I bought it to play Longbow (which I did for HOURS) as well as the Dungeon & Dragon games like ummm Azure Bonds and some other stuff. By todays standards my kids would think it unbelievable but I thought it was THE bomb. hehehe a computer game where you had to use your imagination and always squint a bit so that the figures really 'looked' like little dudes running around with a sword, well not running around because they only had so many 'moves'. And then this game called 'Eye of the Beholder' came out and like blew me away. I think it was on my Amiga (500?), I even updraded it to a 1 meg video card for $150 and it made SO much of a difference. :thumb:

I did enjoy my Sega Genesis though... actually I got it for my oldest (1st) son as sort of a 'forget the pain' gift as he was born in nazi-occupied Germany and they would NOT circumcise him, so we had to wait to get to Fort Bragg, NC and he had it done when he was four years old and folks, it did the trick, that boy was WAY into the Sega Genesis. I remember we used to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain America and the Avengers and (I think) Double Dragon until we both just about passed out. Once we would get through a game, we would just play it again. Those were some good times back then. (heh something to think about on Father's Day.... I have not been 'allowed' to see him in 5 years and can't go over to see him either, OR my other two kids Sarah and Danny... didnt even get an email or anything from them today)

eh, anyways.... the Sega was so cool for it's time.

The Genesis was a great machine when it was released. Technologically, the SNES blew it out of the water. Both systems have a boatload of crappy games. I knew a lot of kids who were addicted to the crappiest looking/playing games on both systems, lol. If these were the only games I had seen, I'd probably not have continued to play video games at all. The first year that the SNES was out, like with any early games, there was probably more "crap" then greatness. But, the greatness you got were games-and I mean games in the first 12 months or so of the system being released-was astounding. Withiin the first 12, you had games like Castlevania 4, Super Mario Kart, A Link to the Past, ActRaiser, SoulBlazer, Final Fantasy 4(released on the SNES in NA as ff2) and at least a dozen other top notch games, including Pilotwings and Sim City. The system never relented. Later in the cycle of the two systems, there came the "Mortal Kombat" controversy. Despite the lack of fatalities in the SNES version-which was corrected for MK2 on the SNES-I think the play control was a bit smoother, as were the graphics, on the SNES. You had the first truly 3-dimensional flying shooter in Starfox-IN MARCH of 93, no less!-and then the world's first completely CG game in Donky Kong Country in fall of 94. The sound chip that Sony provided Nintendo with for the SNES might have been the true icing on the cake. It was a last minute upgrade, because Nintendo wanted to be "as far ahead of the curve" as they could be. Well, they got a hell of a chip. It was likely the best sound you could find without having a CD until the release of the Playstation and Saturn in 94. It was, at the time of its release, considered to be five years ahead of its time. Of course, the excitment didn't stop there. You had a controller that fit very comfortably into your hand and which has become the model for all controlers that have followed. It was the first major controller to have shoulder buttons. The design itself inspired the PS controller, at least to a certain degree. As for the processing power? The system was full of tricks for programmers. It had built in scaling and rotation, something the Genesis did not. The system offered HUNDREDS of colors onscreen at once, compared to less than a hundred for the Genesis, which also only had a few hundred to choose from, while the SNES had nearly 33 THOUSAND shades (so they claimed). Resolution on the SNES was higher. Processing speed was a little slower, but the extras and the way the pathways worked made up for it. The difference in speed was truly negligble and did not impact play as much as the adverts made it seem. I was one of the rare people who did not get totally caught up in the "great 16 bit system wars" and I learned to appreciate both systems for what they offered as gaming platforms. As an RPG nut, most of my games were going to be on the SNES, but I did enjoy Shining Force and the Phantasy Star series for the Genesis. If you have a Wii, I strongly urge you to check out games like Super Metroid, Donkey Kong and the original Mario Kart, on the VC, if they are available. All are chock full of classic gaming goodness. The graphics aren't where things are today, but at the time, they were state of the art. As for the play? Still as fine as ever, imo.

Ty, DJ. And Knightt...there is a version of Eye of the Beholder on the SNES. It wasn't the greatest game, but for the time, it looked nice.

I've recently been playing Metroid Fusion on the GBA side of my DS. I also played through Zero Mission. I like both. Fusion is shockingly good. ZM, meanwhile, is one of the best updates of a game that I've ever seen.

Picked up Star Wars: The Force Unleased (Xbox 360) for Father's Day. It's pretty fun. The gameplay and mechanics remind me a lot of Conan.

Working on the Platinum tracks on Excite Bots for the Wii.

Also found Mr. Do! for the Super Nintendo for only $5 Buy It Now on Ebay (it usually goes for well over $20). Been a quest of mine to get this game for a while. I LOVED the arcade game as a kid. It's basically a more colorful and complex version of Dig Dug but it's still so much fun. The bouncing clown ball of death still works wonders and it even has a two player simultanious mode!

I am playing guitar hero. I got it from some friends for my birthday about 2 months ago.

I have not played it much, but the last few weeks I have picked it up a few times. I can totally see what all the fuss was about. VERY cool game.

I'm not big on the game myself, but it is fun to watch others play. My brother used to come over and challenge my kids, they had a blast. He bought the game for his son, but ended up playing it far more than my nephew ever did.

I am not good (I only play on Medium) but my nephew is a master. I really do enjoy it.
