Total Eclipse?

Comic universes no longer active, Bravura, Continuity, CrossGen, Future, Malibu, Ultraverse... and others that are 'no longer with us' today (or only recently brought back).

Total Eclipse?

Post by turborip »

If I'm only collecting some Eclipse, how important is Total Eclipse to my Airboy and Scout collections? I mean, I know they appear in it, but how important is the story compared to the regular titles? Important like Unity, or just a throwaway reason to get all the Eclipse characters into a book?

I have not read it yet. I imagine it is the typical 'summer slam' with 'world altering events' which means somebody gets a new pair of boots for their costume or something like that.

I have #1-3, 5, and from what I remember Airboy and the whole Sky Fighters team were some of the most used characters in the story, but I don't think Scout was used at all. :thumb:

Just a reason to get the characters together.

For the longest time, I thought that these issues were hard to find but now I think I have 2 complete sets. Nice covers.

I think that Eclipse just rocks. I mean they printed a whole bunch of stuff but for my select titles (like Airboy, Scout, Miracleman, DNAgents, Crossfire etc), I just really enjoy them. Quite a surprising Dead Universe.

Speaking of "Total Eclipse," does anyone have that rare McFarlane one shot that was released a few years back?

Or know what the contents are in there???

Yea, it was a special one shot from Todd McFarlane (retailer exclusive or something)...rare as heck.....I think I have a link here somewhere.... :hm:

Here's a cover pic:

https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?q=%2 ... D=13265161

Suppossedly has some mentions of Miracleman but the rights are still an issue with the characters....

This is an Eclipse book drawn by Todd McFarland ? (please don't mistake me for a McFarland fan. The only think I think he does well is his line of action figures, which are VERY nice IMO)

Mcfarlane didnt do any Eclipse books, but he did introduce Miracle mans alter ego in an issue of Hellspawn ( not sure #).

IM pretty sure there is something else Mcfarlane did after that, but i think he had to shelve his plans to reintrocuce the character due to legal action from Neil Gaiman.

There was a fantastic thread here all about it all, but due to having the intellect of a 2 year old i cannot work the search function at all.

Right, I think the book is mostly a "profiles" book featuring McFarlane's "updated look" to the Eclipse characters.

But not much was done with the legal/rights issues afterwards. Making this one rare. I think McFarlane did release a Miracleman figure and a statue though.

I remember the Image 10th Anniversary hardcover Spawn story had the updated "Miracleman" character renamed because of the legal stuff.

Reminds me of the VIP ashcan that came out a couple of years ago.

Except I don't have 4 copies of Total Eclipse sitting on top of my printer.

That's right! You'll see it floating around out there as "Man of Miracles".

I kid you not!

Sounds like it might go good then with the Airboy companion I'm putting together, featuring all the minis and one shots of Airboy, Sky Wolf, Valkyrie and the other Air Fighters stuff outside the main Airboy series.

I've picked up a few of these here and there & I'm seriously considering it :thumb:

The Miracleman on the cover looks like Jason Todd...

I actually quite like the look of it as well. It is done in a very similar style to the Alice Cooper: Last Redemption or whatever it was called, by Alice and Neil Gaiman.

Holy crap, you totally nailed it... I 'thought' it looked familiar but just could NOT place the name/title and what not.

dammit, now I am on the prowl for this book even stronger.

At least one printing was done by Marvel if that helps.

I got a TPB (Can't remember who published that one but am sure it was not Marvel) at a show a while ago for my other half who collects Gaiman stuff.
