vikingspawn... just a suggestion here but every time the price goes up, post it in a new post so that everybody knows that there is activity within the thread. Updating/editing your post will not send out a notification to those who have posted within the thread and have the 'notification' box checked off. It's kind of like a 'you've been outbid' post when you update with a separate post. Just like that Tekno 'auction' that you did... If I'd have know and it was done on time, I would have bid higher.
Just a suggestion, friend.

If a list were to be made, that should be put in the Valiant part of this board by simple association with 'Acclaim'. I'd petition Greg if you wanted a list like that 'up there'.
viewtopic.php?t=21286&highlight=
This should count on the fact that acclaim no longer publish and none of these books were anything to do with Valiant or Valiant characters shouldnt it old chap?

This one will have to remain on the fence, men.
With the recen.... the long ago purchase to the rights of Valiant and stuff similiar, I think that would be redundant on the boards and is currently placed upstairs.
I consider it all part of the Valiant legacy... but if I can be entertained by a logical argument as to why it should be added, I could reconsider.
Reading through the 'complete' (?) list that you have... I believe we are talking about Windjammer, Armada and Classics Illustrated books, yes ?
If they can be separated from Valiant/Acclaim, fact not opinion, then there would be no problem. Perhaps a 'well New Universe was from Marvel and that is on the DU lists' kind of scenario.
Am I on the way to talking myself into it ?

Sure dude,
it was never meant to be Acclaim as in vh2/3 etc.
This is basically all the other stuff they did that was non valiant.

Well there you've said it right there. 'Right after they took over Valiant' Some of the books we're talking about here were even being advertised inside the book, not a different section but right along with the big names, Bloodshot, Turok, Magnus, Troublemakers and the like.Draco wrote:It has to be my man.Knightt wrote:So the bolded above could be considered New Universe-ish ?Draco wrote:Knightt wrote:This one will have to remain on the fence, men.

I do know that Aircel was putting out books waaaaay back when and their character list was quite extensive as well as using characters from back during WWII. Now if one of these characters showed up made the leap into this universe, would that then be a crossover or just the company buying the IP ? I mean the same thing happend with Magnus, Turok and Solar... I don't see why that would make the line leap into the DU. Does that not lend creadence so as to leaving them in their Valiant world ?Draco wrote:Were there some Malibu charcaters in this knightt or someone from an Eternity/Aircel book?Knightt wrote:So... we still have a connection here. The Valiant should be in the DU section doesnt fly in my opinion. As the IPs have been purchased and we have seen very little in new stories (just recolored TPBs... that and a lack of information given to the fans that have stayed the course with Valiant all these years or even the last six years and are sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for new comics to come out... or just one, maybe two... which would probably quality this whole message board to be put into the Dead Universes section

But as I see it, they lack the disconnection that would qualify them as a DU, this due to the 'cameos' that magnusr mentioned as well as the very small new activity within Valiant itself. Who knows ? Maybe Quantum & Woody may show up as that title certainly had curb appeal.
I still don't know why Armada and Windjammer are not on the Valiant side of the house upstairs. It is certainly associated with Valiant/Acclaim to this day.
Or they could be up in the air like Miracleman... what is the status of THAT IP. Anybody know ?
Which brings up a tangent I guess (please excuse) but remember when Liefeld put out some 'Fighting American' books (or somethign like that), the likeness to Captain America was insane. Surely there must have been some legal work going on behind the scenes on that one. Anything happen due to that ?

I would personally lump the Armada and Windjammer stuff together as a single entity but I don't think it can be held up as a DU because the majority of the stuff was either licensed product (Waterworld, Magic: The Gathering, Sliders etc.) or creator owned (Starslayer etc.).
Wasn't there talk a while ago about VEI owning Quantum and Woody? If this is the case, then Acclaim/Valiant would not be able to be classed as a DU because they would be using certain fringe characters even if they weren't used as part of the main universe. You also ave to take into account the fact that the purpose of Unity 2000 was to unify the V H 1 and V H 2 universes so both the main A/V Universe and now the non-A/V Universe have been acquired at least and now probably unified.
In terms of Knightt being brought in to run the whole board, I like the idea in that he is a good guy and there are rarely any problems in the section he oversees but I think Greg does a good enough job, hell a great job as it is so am happy with the way things are until such a time as Greg maybe wants to hang up his crown. I would not be taking sides in the event of an insurrection. Keep up the good work guys
I'd just like to point out that this is probably my favorite thread at the moment (with the exception of Just Thor, of course) as I have not been involved in such an in depth discussion for quite a while. Cheers all.

Never has the idea of me running the 'whole board'' ever come into play. I run the Dead Universes section as was given to me by Greg himself on 10 Oct 2005. In fact, it was my first post (creating this section) when I came back to the boards, as I used the board name knightt_333 then and I would say that was my evil twin. I am much better now hehehehe

I started up the DU section with Greg's permission and have maintained it since. I will continue to do so until the point I no longer wish to do so or Greg decides to take the section off the boards. This is a section that Greg does not need to worry about as we police ourselves VERY well. And having a no flame war tolerance level, we have made this a safehaven where we all share our love for Dead Universes. This is a place where we trade and give freely to help each other complete their collections.
Is there an issue with me running the Dead Universes section ?

If I said something that struck a nerve, it was either by accident or you are reading my intentions wrongly.
Long live Knightt, ruler of the DU.
Long live Greg as grand high overseer of all VF.
Anyway, what are your feelings toward lumping Armada and Windjammer together as one (like mac & cheese or Quantum and Woody - they are nothing without the other. Well with the possible exception of cheese which goes well with pretty much anything)? Or having them as a DU? Or even a separate imprint?
CPG forums lump everything VALIANT did together, including the Nintendo and WWF. They also lump Acclaim, Armada and Windjammer together in much the same way. I personally think they are cool the way we treat them, like separate imprints an ting.
